Accepted FSCJ Summer 2010 Students

U.S.A. Florida

Hey everybody!

I just wanted to start a separate thread regarding our acceptance into the FSCJ (a.k.a. FCCJ) Summer 2010 "RN" program. I know we've all been posting to the "hopefuls" page but now that we aren't "hopefuls" anymore, and we're more like "stressfuls"... I thought I'd start a new page... JOIN ME! :)

I guess it is technically called something else other than "RN program" but... here we go anyway.

I'm still a bit confused as to whether, during orientation, I should be more focused on getting a hospital close to my house or a teacher that will be great during my first term.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this? I've always made the teacher my first priority but I'm curious as to whether or not, those of you who have been there, think that there is a big enough difference in teachers that we would be wise to drive for miles to get to a specific one.

FYI the box of books is not available yet. I just called there and they should be in some time this week. They couldn't be delivered last week due to spring break.

Yes they told me the same thing. I'm hoping they come in soon since I'm waiting to get the medical terminology book to study for our first test.

I'm heading up to North Campus tomorrow morning. If the boxes are in stock I'll let you guys know.

Hey, does anyone know when we need to register for classes/pay for classes by?

I'm pretty sure they said the 15th.

Ok.Lots of crazy/bad stuff this past week that distracted me from registering and stuff. Need to figure out how to get books and uniforms, too. UGH! I'm so behind!!!!!!!!!

I stopped by the Northside Bookstore this morning. They said that according to the tracking info the books are scheduled to be delivered tomorrow but did not indicate a delivery time... I'll be back to campus on Thursday Morning, so we'll see.

So what kind of bp cuff and stethscope did everybody get and where did you buy it?

Has anyone gotten their polos? The website doesn't really give much information on which one we are supposed to buy. I very well may have missed something along the way and would appreciate any assistance. Thanks!

Hi,

Polos are easy - when you call they will give you directions on how to get there. They are a small office and know exactly what shirts you need. Call first, there may be only one employee and you never know if they went to lunch or the restroom.

if you are going through the website use this link http://companycasuals.com/nursing//start.jsp Apparently they gave out an incorrect link at Orientation. If you call the number listed on the sheet, this is the website they are providing people with.

As for which to purchase: The only options are a men's or women's polo and I think one gives you a choice of color but we are suppose to order blue.

Hi I'm new here. I'm doing my pre-requisites right now so I will not be in the nursing program until next summer if accepted - I hope. I'm assuming everyone on this thread is around Jacksonville, hence the title. I have a question and hopefully someone can enlighten me before I become fully committed on the ADN program. Do you know if our local hospitals will hire ADN graduates or know someone that got hired on? Just very curious and thanks in advance for the response.
