Accepted FSCJ Summer 2010 Students

U.S.A. Florida

Hey everybody!

I just wanted to start a separate thread regarding our acceptance into the FSCJ (a.k.a. FCCJ) Summer 2010 "RN" program. I know we've all been posting to the "hopefuls" page but now that we aren't "hopefuls" anymore, and we're more like "stressfuls"... I thought I'd start a new page... JOIN ME! :)

I guess it is technically called something else other than "RN program" but... here we go anyway.

I'm still a bit confused as to whether, during orientation, I should be more focused on getting a hospital close to my house or a teacher that will be great during my first term.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this? I've always made the teacher my first priority but I'm curious as to whether or not, those of you who have been there, think that there is a big enough difference in teachers that we would be wise to drive for miles to get to a specific one.

I was also bummed that n/w was at north campus. I think the majority of us felt that is was going to be at Deerwood. It gonna cost a pretty penny in gas to run to Dunn avenue 3-4 days week. Was great to finally put a face to some of the names on here. Glad to have met everyone.

I also signed up for all my classes. Does anyone know how summer financial aid works? Hope I have some left to help pay for these classes.

Has anyone read the ratemyprofessors reviews for N/W instructors? :uhoh21:

I did, and it doesnt look good.

I guess the good thing is that I don't have Nassau for my clinicals :yeah:

Who did you'll get?

Mccullough, Steward, and Capazzera

I guess all the professors in charge of the programs are taking the summer off.

I really wanted Burns for Pharm. She wrote the test and gives reviews before exams. Others... not so much!:crying2:

To say I'm bummed about n/w not being at Deerwood is an understatement. My husband says we should contact someone above the person who misinformed me, and let them know what happened. It won't change anything for us, but at least someone will know about it. Mariana, I am SO sorry you had to drop. Very, very upsetting. I based my decision to go to FSCJ on the convenience of Deerwood and going at night. Now I will need a baby sitter to come early enough for me to leave and drive all the way to north campus in 5pm traffic. I may as well have done days, but if I do days I may as well have accepted my seat at JU and gotten a BSN in 16 months instead. Needless to say, I'm trying to look on the bright side- I am thrilled to be in this program, can't wait to me a nurse, very happy to have met wonderful people today, etc... :)

Thanks so much for the condolences. I'm going to give myself today to feel really miserable, and then I'll get over it. Tomorrow is another day. I look at it this way...I get one more summer with my children before the craziness begins :p

Good luck to everyone on the upcoming term. I wish everyone an enormous amount of success!!! :yeah:

Marina, I would make VERY sure they are SURE the fall will be at Deerwood. I was told straight from a certain someone's mouth, that THIS SUMMER would be at Deerwood. I would drop myself and start over in the fall if I believed anything she said. I have a hard time trusting they won't just randomly decide to change it again. I would want to hear it from the director or dean.

I got section 3, my first choice yeah!!! So much info, so much money!!!!
