Hello!
Does anyone know when acceptance letters will be mailed out for the MGH d-e master's in nursing program? I know it's only been 3 weeks since the January 10th deadline, but I'm sure I'm not the only one biting my nails in the interim. :) I've looked through a few similar threads from a few years ago-- most students seemed to receive letters in early March, but who knows whether their program deadlines were the same. Thought I'd ask the question to get some discussion going. Hope all of us hear back soon! Good luck, everyone!
I also posted this on the Boston Direct Entry page, so sorry if it is repetitive. Are there any current MGH students out there who could give me some general information about the program? Some of my questions include: Are most of the MGH students from the Boston area or are they from all over the country? Are the all the clinical rotations in Boston, or can they send you up to several hours away? How affiliated is the school with Mass Gen Hospital? If the US news rankings are accurate, MGH has a much lower ranking than a lot of other direct entry programs. Is this an issue? Thanks for your help!
Psychlisa - right now, the 2 courses I'm taking vary considerably, but I like them both. Micro is honestly not much work and I am finding it pretty easy. A&P is considerably more work, however I am also enjoying it. Since both classes are entirely online, it requires a good amount of discipline (you have to make sure you do the readings, follow the deadlines, do the online discussions, do the lab component, etc.) - I have never done an online class before, and this was new to me. I really like the flexibility - like I said, I love being able to do lab work while my daughter sleeps in the other room. At the same time, I'm not sure that this takes less time than attending a lecture in person, since there is a good amount of reading, etc. It is nice that the exams/quizzes are generally open book, so it's a lot less memorization than you would traditionally find in an a&p class, which is great. Plus, I also enjoy the lab software - it feels like you are playing a videogame, in a way (at least I try to view it that way :) )

Thanks for the advice! you definitely have me sold---need to look into these and see if I can manage to get them both online in succession--might be tough since I need A&P I before II. I wish I knew this before I decided to take microbio at my school now...literally takes over every free moment of my life....so much work!
I'm pretty sure you don't receive the BSN and the MSN until the end of the program, and you receive them concurrently (some programs, like Regis, will give you the BSN mid-program right when you earn it, and will allow you to leave the program at that point to practice as an RN if you wish). Some people have mistakenly read "you don't receive a BSN along the way" or language like that on these threads to mean that they don't give you a BSN at all, when it really means you don't receive it until later. At least I was confused at first when I saw old threads like that, since I always remembered seeing that they awarded a BSN and an MSN...
Hi, I have been accepted and had a question regarding prerequisites.
Can anyone confirm whether labs are required for the prerequisite classes? I believe they said we did not need the labs but wanted to make sure that is the same information other people have been told before signing up for summer classes! Thanks so much and can't wait for the fall.

emul,
I know how you feel. I still haven't heard anything and I'm just outside of Boston!
