Hi- This is my first post here, I found you guys on google and you all seemed really nice and informative.
I am in a bit of a predicament, this is a long post I'm sorry but I need some expertise advice.
I applied to Stony Brook for the Accelerated Program Starting in 2008, here were my pre-reqs:
Microbio: B-
A&P1: B
A&P2: In progress
Chem 1: C
Other Science: C+
Overall Gpa 2.76 ( I have a 3.6 from another school but they dont add them both together unfortunately )
I had my application in on time, printed out the date sheet, but there was a snafu with the wrong dates on the website, and I didnt get my references in on time, I ultimately got denied.
I want to make sure I get accepted this time around. I just graduated from Stony Brook and here are my current stats:
Microbio: B-
A&P1- B
A&P2 B+
Chem1: C
Other Science: A
(this gives a 3.0 average on the sciences)
I have also raised my GPA to 3.4, not including my 3.6 gpa from my transfer school
So my question is: I know that Stony Brook's program is extremely competitive, what do I need to do to get accepted?! I know that my Chem grade isn't the greatest, but I really do not want to take it again as I really struggled through it the first time at Stony Brook. Do you think that the C will really make or break me and I should retake it? I have to work full time all summer, so I would have to retake it online through a community college - do you think that if I simply had excellent references and personal statements my chem grade would be overlooked? I don't want to put myself into jeopardy because of one grade.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated, I am having an internal struggle, because my heart really isn't in retaking chemistry
I'm part of the other Stonybrook ABSN thread & saw this thread for the first time... my heart skipped a beat when Mellieinab said they usually accept the alternates... oh please let that be the case this year too!!! If they called me last minute, I'd fly out there quick & couch surf for a week until I found a decent place to live. haha!
Mercy, I guess we were at the same open house!! :) Did you hear anything yet??
Hey Mellie we probably were!!..I have not heard much else besides the initial acceptance and the scholarship application letter. I am wondering about the orientation dates...but i guess that will not be for awhile.

yes, i'm also wondering about the orientation dates! does anyone know the exact start date as well? the only new thing i have now are 4 additional tabs in the solar system.
Hi guys! I'm new to this spot and was wondering if anyone could help me. I got my letter of acceptance in the mail about 3 weeks ago. I signed and mailed in my acceptance form. However, I'm just now noticing that there is a $150 tuition deposit that transfer students must pay:uhoh3::uhoh21::uhoh21:. Does anyone know if it's too late to pay that deposit?? I hope not!!
