Accelerated BSN program NYU Fall 2011

Published

Hi hopeful Fall 2011 NYU students!

I recently submitted my application for the accelerated BNS program. I saw that other semesters had discussions and I thought it would be nice to start one for us, just to help each other out through the application process.

I looked at past ones when I was filling out my application and found them to be helpful, so hopefully it will be for us.

Love to see who all is applying and how it's going:)

I'm not sure. I was hoping we would find out by May 1st...Oh well. I guess I should focus on my comprehensive microbiology final. Lol

I'm taking micro too and should be doing the exact same thing! Haha! Good luck!

I don't think there is a difference between when they admit traditional transfer/accelerated students. I found out that I was accepted April 15th. I'm a traditional transfer, but have finished almost all my prereqs., and if I finish two more liberal arts classes over the summer, I can start my clinical sequence in the fall and join the accelerated track. I originally thought traditional transfers found out after accelerated students but I guess not. I think we are all in the same consideration pool.

I think I am the only traditional transfer on this board that has already gotten a decision. I believe that everyone else on this board that has been admitted is accelerated/second degree.

Hi StephRN2B!

I think Nessa123 on this page is also a traditional transfer?

I believe the main difference about finding out is that the accelerated students are receiving emails in batches while the other students are having packets mailed to their homes...that's where I was starting to get confused!

Hi Kelbel

I received my acceptance via email along with the first batch of accelerated students that were accepted on April 15th. I received the packet by regular mail a week after my acceptance email. This leads me to believe that traditional transfer/accelerated students are all being considered in the same applicant pool.

Hello,

I just created a thread for Traditional/Transfer students. I believe you can search for it as: NYU Traditional/Transfer BSN Applicants for Fall 2011

Looking forward to meeting everyone "virtually" as we support each other through the process.

I really dont think there is a difference between regular transfer and accelerated besides the fact that we (Accelerated) go non stop. We go throughout the summer whereas traditional has summer break. Its still the same amount of units and semesters. I actually might have to skip summer because of finances which would put me right on track with regular admissions.

You too Jdub! The sad thing is I still have to take physiology this summer. Lol

StephRN2be and EmEmJay, thanks for the info. Are you an undergrad, or going for a second bachelors? I guess that would clear up my confusion, since I was under the impression that there is only the accelerated program for college graduates?

Does anyone know how many spots are available in the second degree accelerated program for fall??

Specializes in OR.

So many new people... WELCOME ALL.

It's scary, every other day someone new comes in and say's they received there acceptance letter when the first batch went out. I wonder how many accelerated versus transfer they accept? From what my friend told me is they accept more accelerated students. She also said that the program admits every semester about 170 students. Who know maybe more or less!!!

It would be nice if we find out tomorrow.
