Accelerated BSN program NYU Fall 2011

Published

Hi hopeful Fall 2011 NYU students!

I recently submitted my application for the accelerated BNS program. I saw that other semesters had discussions and I thought it would be nice to start one for us, just to help each other out through the application process.

I looked at past ones when I was filling out my application and found them to be helpful, so hopefully it will be for us.

Love to see who all is applying and how it's going:)

i think i'm gonna try calling tomorrow even though the response will probably be the same..doesn't hurt to try lols

btw i just checked albert and my hs transcripts and standardized tests have been checked off (they weren't before only my college transcripts) and i didn't submit hs transcripts or test scores...weird..

well I don't know if I'm in at NYU or not but I have decided to return to my old job managing restaurants/ lounge here because my pay was similar to nurses salary and could increase if I move fast up the ladder while still young. I just cant justify the debt of returning to school at this stage in my life now I'm a mother. I'm disappointed and wanted the security of having a true profession that wasn't measured so much on youth and image but I'm going to have to take my chances out there, I watched my mommy struggle with credit card debt growing up and I just can't go there, even a cheaper school I'd still be paying at least $20,000+ and I'm not eligible for any grants or subsidized loans :( Good luck everyone, if I was still single and without kids I'd be right there with you...

Hi Guys!

For everyone that has been accepted, did you guys receive admission packets in the mail? I got mine Friday. Also, I accepted my admissions offer. I received an email from the Bursar at NYU saying that my payment was received but did not receive anything from the actual nursing school. Do you think thats bad? I am praying for the rest of you guys to hear soon!!!

DPmke, are you from the midwest!? I am from St. Louis :)

Please let us know what they say when you call! =) My high school transcript section still hasn't been checked off..Maybe that means they just finished reviewing yours!:yeah:Good Luck!

Thats weird, my high school and standardized test boxes have also been checked off today. My transcripts sections have been checked off for a long time now, but just today those two other boxes were checked off even though I didn't send any of that info in either. Hmmm..I am hoping we all start finding out our decisions next week sometime. I too talked with admissions and the nursing coordinator is out of the office this entire week and will arrive back Monday, so if I had to guess we have at least until next week until any other people are notified.

Hey have you looked into any online or community college nursing programs? I know people where I live who are taking their nursing courses at community colleges and find it much cheaper compared to the cost of my current college. I say if nursing is truly the career that you can picture yourself doing for the rest of your life then go do some research and you'll eventually find something. Also if you already have some credits under your belt then that will lower how much you're going to have to spend also. And go out and search for scholarships too! I know being a mother your time is limited but if you can write really good essays and make it a goal to apply for one every week or every two weeks then you might be able to earn some money towards your education.

Best of lucks!

Hey Ashley,

Yeah, I'm from Milwaukee and I really like living in the Midwest. However, it will be pretty awesome to live in NYC for 15 months.

Hey Ashley --

I also received the packet in the mail last week and only received the confirmation of payment from the bursar. I'm also from the Midwest - grew up in Chicago - and lived in St. Louis for five years. I loved it there. :)

I applied to Duke, Georgetown, Emory, Loyola of Chicago and NYU. Definately doing NYU though...I couldn't afford the $90+ tuition for Duke (since shockingly there ARE schools out there more expensive than NYU...haha)...

My high school transcripts and standardized test scores were checked off today too! Even though I did not send them with my application. Looks like things are moving along! :lol2:
