accelerated BSN-azusa-EENAP @ san diego-Summer 2009

U.S.A. California

Hi,

I got accepted into EENAP program at azusa-san diego campus for summer 2009 semester. Does anyone has an idea of how the program is, and what are the hospitals where they have the clinics? I am relocating to san diego and I don't have any idea of what would be a good place to rent a apartment. I am not a big fan of traffic and driving, so I am looking for anything which will be commute wise the best choice. How I wish, I could live in walking distance of everything:mad:.........I know, it is a impossible dream.

Please guys, if you know just know about anything, do let me know. Thanks!!!!!!!!:nurse:

I was thinking of taking the 104 class at Mira Costa, because I think it doesn't have a prerequisite requirement. Or does it? I live about 30 min south but if I don't get into the Cuyamaca class I may have to consider the drive. Right now I am taking apII and micro. I know, I am super excited about starting nursing school too. Will you be applying for scholarships or grants? I need all I can get.

So is biochem/ochem 104 at Mira Costa a hard class?

Sorry for such a delayed response. Been super busy; you know how things go.

Chem 104 doesn't require a prereq. I think the class is pretty reasonable. I really enjoyed the instructor and strongly recommend him. He is very organized and goes at a pace to be sure everyone understands the material. Plus the material is not super in depth so I think it is pretty manageable.

I definitely need to apply for scholarships\grants. Do you know how the Kaiser scholarship works?

Have you been down to visit the campus at all?

Thanks so much for the reply! You give me hope for the future! I'm hoping to get into the January 2010 cohort in San Diego.... I'm in pretty much the same boat as you sounds like with you GPA, etc... What kind of petition did you have to do? Could you tell me more about that?

Thank you and good luck to you!

I talked with an admissions adviser over the phone. She said since my GPA was under the 3.0 I could petition and she would send a petition form in the mail. It was pretty straight forward. I just wrote that I wish to be admitted based on my post-bac GPA. But you must have more than 16 units. It was pretty simple.

Have you heard anything back yet?

Hi! Could you tell me who you contacted over the phone or e-mail (the admissions advisor). I'm interested in that petition. I've been trying to contact someone at Azusa to talk to them about many things, but I haven't gotten a response from anyone there. I just finished my application and sent everything I needed in a few days ago. Thank you!

I'm also thinking of applying for this program to start in Spring 2010. I only have a few prerequisites left, which I plan on finishing up this fall. :)

Can anyone tell me about the Chem prereq's Azusa requires? Is it both General Chem & the lab, along with Organic Chem & the lab? Or just one of those?

Thanks in advance. :)

congrats to those taking the EENAP program this summer. if you guys need books, let me know

i'd be able to sell you some.

:)

Hi! It took a while for me to get a response after I sent in my application, perhaps two months. I was initially contacted and told that a woman would contact me over the phone for an advising session. I did not get her information. She reviewed the courses I already took and those I needed to complete, as well as mentioning that I needed to fill out the petition. They mailed it out to me and I returned it along with a copy of my current transcript. So I think you need to wait until someone contacts you as far as the petition goes. Hope that helps. Let me know if I can clarify anything else. Good luck!

Hi,

I have been looking through the azusa posts and I saw this one that said that you are in the spring 2010 eenap cohort in San Diego. I am also going to be in that cohort. Are you still going to go? I thought I would try and connect with some of the class. I am getting very excited and I am ready to start. Hopefully, I am replying to the right person. Hopefully you are still attending in the spring and we can trade e-mail. Take care.

Beth Anne

P.S. I noticed you mentioned North County. I live in Solana Beach.

beth ann,

hi there! i am definately still planning to attend apu in the spring. yet, i'm on a waiting list for the spring and have been trying to find out about the status. i was assured that it wouldn't be a problem getting in for spring. regardless, i am very excited too and anxious at the same time; it will all begin before we know it. i currently live in oceanside but am probably going to move down to sd in jan. i think it would be too much of a hassle to commute. are you going to stay in solana beach?

have a great day,

kristi

Hi Kristi,

I am sure you will be able to attend in the spring. Everyone's plans change and people go to different schools etc. I am planning on staying in Solana Beach. I live right off the 5 on Lomas Santa Fe so the commute is reasonable. I am hoping I can start a carpool to ease some of the commuting. Have you done your BLS? I am looking at several different classes. I am hoping to do one at Scripps Encinitas. My husband is an RN so he is good about giving me good advice. I do have some anxiety about the amount of work. My husband recommends a good study group and spending every spare moment studying. It should be quite the challenge. Are you doing any pre-reqs right now? Luckily I am done with my pre-reqs so I can just focus on BLS, getting shots etc. Anyway, thanks for your e-mail reply and I will talk to you soon.

Beth Anne

Beth Ann and Kristi,

Hello! I am also an incoming student for cohort 12 at the San Diego EENAP. I am so excited, I can't wait to just get started already. I would also like to connect with any new students. Renee mentioned there are 30 students in our cohort.

Kristi - have you heard about getting in yet? Goodluck to you! I hope you get in as well.

2Bnurse_it,

Hi! I'm finally starting next semester. There is also an online thing you have to buy. What is that about?

How is your career going? Can't wait, I hope I get to work with you on the Kaiser floor. I will try to go into ER or ICU if I am given a choice.

Take care,

Theresa
