Hi everyone,
I'm making this thread to see if anyone else is applying to Umass Amherst for fall 2017 acclerated nursing program?
Hi everyone! I was recently taken off of the waitlist and have a few days to make a final decision. I'm currently enrolled to start another (more expensive) program in Boston that starts in a couple of weeks so I'm try to get as much information as possible to make a decision. I was wondering if anyone had more specific information on the tuition and full costs of attendance. Also, does anyone have any more information on the specific clinical placements? Any information and input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks all!
For those still on the wait list:
"Yes we pulled our first choices already. If you have not received and email or phone call from me,
then you have not been selected. We plan to fill the class with those that we pulled so far.
In the event that we don't, we will pull a couple more next week."
I got accepted! For those that are still waiting, they are waiting to hear back from those who were taken off the waiting list (12PM EST) and then going from there. To anyone that didn't get accepted or doesn't, do NOT give up! Stay resilient. If you have any questions, etc, feel free to dm me :).
I am applying for fall 2018 and was wondering if you could give me any information about what your GPAs are? I saw one post where he said 3.8 and was wondering if anyone else's was that high
Hi jaccckie, I applied for Fall 2017 and was accepted but decided to commit to another program. I applied with a 4.0 in nursing pre-reqs and a 3.9 undergrad GPA. Hope this helps and good luck, this is a great program!
Hi jacckie - my pre req GPA was a little over a 3.3. I was waitlisted then accepted. I didn't do all that well as an undergrad but worked my butt off with my pre reqs while working, volunteering, shadowing, etc. I'm sure anyone on this thread can attest to doing the same, if not more. good luck!
Hey everyone! So I was just accepted off the waitlist in early June! I am still waiting to hear back from two other schools (more money), but I had to accept so I could keep my spot! It is a great program, my only worry is housing and the fact that I have around one month to get everything together! I have been looking and am looking in Sturbridge/ Charlton area. Have people joined the Facebook group yet? Just reading back on previous posts. Hope to meet all of you soon!
P.S. For others asking for future reference, my undergrad GPA was a 3.3 and my pre-requisites was a 3.8! Not sure if I got in because of that, or because other accepted students got into different schools, or they decided not to go because classes got moved to Springfield.. Regardless, I'm excited!
Hi Everyone,
Future UMass Amherst ABSN applicant here (will be applying for 2018's entering class). The website states: Applicants must have completed all prerequisite courses with a grade of C or better in each course and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher by the application deadline of January 15.
It was my understanding that the 3.0 is for prerequisites, correct? I ask because although I currently have a 4.0 in my prereqs (just Micro to go this Fall), I have a terrible GPA from undergrad (entered in 2005). I was a different and very irresponsible person back then, and I am worried that I will always be paying for the mistakes I made back when I was an idiot.
Do you all think I should submit a letter explaining the major discrepancy between my cumulative undergrad GPA and my prereq GPA (what happened, how I improved, etc)? I took some years off to get myself together, went back to school in 2015, and have earned an A in every class taken since re-entering, including all my prereqs.
Tl'dr I'm scared that Amherst will take one look at my old transcript and reject me, despite the 4.0 in prereqs.

Only ten people are being pulled from the waiting list she said. I'm assume I didn't she said she sent out acceptance to those people already.
