Hi everyone,
I'm making this thread to see if anyone else is applying to Umass Amherst for fall 2017 acclerated nursing program?
Hey everyone! I got accepted into ABSN program for the fall! I've been trying to find others who have as well, and I'm so glad i thought to check this website! Congrats to everyone who've been accepted!! I will make sure to get on that FB page. Anyone know where I can find the tuition increase info? Talk about disappointing!
Hi cinsim,
I haven't decided yet where I'm going to go, but I've been doing some casual looking around online at apartments in all the towns/cities of the programs I've been accepted to. Springfield's rental market looks very affordable to me and I really like what I've seen of the Forest Park area (looks very pretty and historic). I don't think it's too far from school, especially if you plan on having a car (someone who knows Springfield better than I do, please correct me if I'm wrong).
Hey blackberrymousse,
Yea so have I. I have found some apartments close to the UMass center, and they're not bad! I havent checked out the Forest Park area yet. I will do that. I actually don't have a car, and I dont think I will be getting one anytime soon, considering all the costs I have already. Hence, I am looking close by.
Hi cinsim,
The creator of this thread Asiyah.futurern said that she has lived in Springfield Mass for many years and she gives a lot of good info about Springfield if you backtrack through this thread and read her posts. She also said that you can get just about everywhere you need to by bus so I don't think it'll be a problem for you to not have a car. Forest Park is not right in the downtown area where UMASS center is located but I looked on a map at one point and it seems close enough by public transportation (I'm guessing maybe around a 30 min or so commute each way?). Anyway, Springfield seems like a very cute mid- to smaller sized city. I heard there's not a lot to do there in the way of nightlife (you'd probably have to take the bus to Boston or something if you wanted to experience that), but that personally wouldn't bother me because I'm a bookish nerd who never parties lol.
Hey blackberrymousse,
Yea I thought I read something about living accommodations on this blog. I will go back and look through again. Yea I am most likely going to be relying on bus majority of the time, unless I have a roommate who has a similar schedule as me, then perhaps I could carpool with them. I am considering paying for gas if that works out. I really hope its a nice place, I know nothing about Springfield, let alone Massachusetts haha. I am literally the same, I will venture out to find nice places to eat - and thats about it hahaha I not much of a party-goer myself. I feel like I am way past that stage of life. Besides I dont think we will even have that much time for social activities!

Re: CTmom
Thank you for the info! That sounds great, sounds like I would be in good company as a relocator/transplant. And it's also really nice to know that there is a wide variety of ages, I think that would make for a much richer experience.
