Greetings to everyone out there, i am an lpn in the state of Georgia. Two years ago i went to nursing school graduated, wrote my boards earlier this year, pass and and started practicing. My school main campus is in florida and what was supposed to be a satellite programme here in GA. recently i received a call from GA. BON saying that my school here was illegal and asking me to surrender my license or there are going to suspend it anyway. I'm so confused right now, i have no money to hire a lawyer still in school full time. i dont know if i should surrender or let them suspend it, i have till wednesday september 9, 2015. to make a decision. I dont know what else i can do to prove my competency to the GA. BON. Please any advice? Write a struggling and confused young man.
Website states:
~~~ ACCREDITED by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) ~~~
*Not all locations - Please call for more info!
By my quick research there are two Florida locations approved by Florida BON (Lauderdale Lakes and Orlando).
I don't see any approval on the GA BON.
It's a real school in Florida... It appears that someone in Georgia is just for using their name and saying they are affiliated with the school in florida. They aren't....
Something similar happened in my state. It used to be very popular with foreign nurses because the BON did not require a SS# for a nursing license until 2 years ago. A bunch of African LPNs attended the same school in Queens, passed the NCLEX, and got licensed, then their licenses were revoked because the school did not meet state standards.
I'm not going to give legal advice, but every job I've had asked if I'd ever lost or voluntarily surrendered a professional license. A voluntary surrender may look better to a potential employer than an involuntarily revocation.
Definitely get a lawyer, and make sure you have something in writing from the BON.
I'm not sure how OP was ever able to sit for the NCLEX in the first place?!
I'm assuming they sent fraudulent info to the board...
Someone in another state claimed they went to my school took her nclex and failed... It was only discovered when they sent something to my school about her results... The director saw that she had no idea who this was and notified the board.
So it seems like the BON doesn't investigate all that well...
That's horrible. I am so sorry, OP.
