abington hospital dixon school of nursing

Published

Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone out there has applied to early admission for fall 2010 to abington hospital dixon school of nursing?

I think the only way for you to get in for the day program is if someone declines the offer, then maybe you have a shot. Is it possible for you to attend the E/W program just for the first year and then switch to day?

I would think by this late date that those who accepted Abington's offer have sent in their acceptance fee.

hi i saw this posting and wondered if it was accurate " if i recall correctly, about 40-50 of the waitlisted people last year were then accepted due to other people either not completing pre-reqs, or accepting offers at other schools." if that is true maybe i can still switch my weekend spot for a day spot. any ideas on this? thanks

Specializes in ER.

Those figures were based on my memory of what was put forth in an information session at Dixon. I cannot say if those numbers are accurate....but there will most certainly be those that will not be attending for one reason or another.

I was wait listed for the '09 year and was just accepted into the '10 year. (because my pre-reqs weren't complete.) But last year when I called to see what was going on and if they were going to have any openings they said that they wait til the deadline for those who were accepted to pay their acceptance fee...some people accept other schools, some people change their minds and some may have other things that happened and couldn't accept the seat. But I'm sure they would let you switch if you really had to, as long as someone else didn't accept...plus that would open an E/W spot for someone else. I was told that e/w is harder to get a seat in then the day program. So you might find someone looking to switch their day for an e/w spot. You never know....good luck!

Thanks for the help with my dilemna of trying to switch programs. I will talk to someone tomorrow to see if there might be any movement in the spots. We will see!

I feel bad as I hoped and preyed to get into to abington and now I am going to decline there acceptance offer. But I guess there is an up side, I got accepted into another school, and somebody who is on the waiting list for abington will get in...

Well congrats on Abington and another school. What school are you going to?

Since I'm currently a HS senior and have to complete the prerequisites, I applied early decision for Fall 2011, and I got in! I can't wait :)

This question is for anyone currently attending or graduated. Do both the programs graduate at the same time? When do they graduate? I heard someone say May but then someone else said September...so I was just wondering.

Day students are in May and evening students are around September.

I have two more questions about abington's program for anyone that is currently attending...what handheld devices do they let you use for clinical? Or do you have to buy one through them? Also, for E/W it says you get term breaks...since we don't get the summers off. When are they usually and how long are they?? Thanks!

I just got my information package the other day. Handheld devices are self bought, or if you already own one you can use that. The information package says that there are many that can be used: itouch, iphone, plam, pocket pc, blackberry or android phone or any smart phone or pda. If you want to purchase an iphone the school has an agreement with at&t for a discount of 20-24% for a student to buy one.

About the breaks, I am not sure when they are but I think it is 1 week between semesters. I think we will get a schedule that will tell us that information ahead of time.
