What state do you live in and how many weeks post graduation did it take for you to get hired ?? Hopsitals in NY aren't hiring new grads at the rate that they use to,so I heard...I am so willing to relocate.
From what I've heard, most of the 2009 grads from my school in WA found jobs - just took them a while. I got hired where I'm doing my senior prac at. Its still pretty tough around here. Seems like the hospitals are just hiring the students that are doing their senior pracs at the site or their nurse techs :/
Northern California, but I would not recommend coming here. I did a lot of extra work to have extra stuff on my resume and I kinda knew people (due to the extra work I did). I graduated in May 09 and I think everyone has a job so far. My friend graduated in December 09 and she and many of her classmates still have not found work; another class just graduated this week, they are really going to have a hard time finding jobs.
Graduated in Dec '09, took my NCLEX, & moved to Texas in early February. Started applying at various hospitals when I got here & got hired at my first job in mid-March.
They say that Texas is recession-proof. I think there is some truth to that because the hospital censuses are always near capacity & new hospitals are being built.
I live in the inland empire, California and I graduated jan 09 and passed boards may 09 and still cant find a job. Im giving up on nursing and Ive just decided whatever job I can get will do. My standards went from applying at hospitals to applying at bottom of the barrell nursing homes, but even they require experience or they have hiring freezes. Im to the point where retail or fast food is looking good. At least it pays the bills. I just wish I never wasted 18 months and 24,000$. I get depressed having to pay 300 dollars a month in loans when there is no money.
I in WA, after relocating out of IL, and it took me 9 months to a year depending on how you look at it. I'm a May 09' grad but started looking in Jan 09, I'll start in May 31st. In Tacoma at a great place, it is hard to get in, I applyed almost 40 times to this hospital, but it worth it to hear that offer of employment!!! Keep trying and good luck!!
I dont think the 2010 grads are having much luck either....of 90 classmates only about 10 have jobs lined up. Some where they worked because their hospital payed for their education...unfortunately I am with the rest as I have yet to find a job after apply to over 20 jobs already... I even have an interview with a non nursing job on Thursday as a clinical specialist (medical equipment). So frustrating.

yeah, either the 2010's are having more luck than the 2009-ers, or the ones who haven't found jobs yet just haven't been experiencing rejection long enough to create '2010 grad, can't find a job' posts yet.
Unfortuanatly for the 2009 grads, if the 2010 grads are having better luck, yet we still can't get any response, what does that say for our fate? That no one wants a stale old grad.
