A question to new Nursing school grads who were able to find a job.

What state do you live in and how many weeks post graduation did it take for you to get hired ?? Hopsitals in NY aren't hiring new grads at the rate that they use to,so I heard...I am so willing to relocate.

I'm in CA, and graduated in April with my BSN. I started applying all over the country back in January....applied at over 75 hospitals. Last week I was offered a job in TX, and I start in June! It can be done, it just takes a lot of time and effort. Good luck to all of you!

look down south... also, your best bet is to go through new grad programs/residencies because they have to fill their programs, so they have to hire.

(MI) I graduated in Dec 09, had my first job offer end of March. My hospital is hiring quite a few new grads. I think out of a class of 27 only 5 of my classmates are still trying to get a job.

Anyone willing to relocate to Reno, NV should apply at Renown Regional Medical Center. They gladly hire and welcome new grads. Good Luck!

kla374- where in LA are you? I've been here since July 09 and still can't find a place that will hire a new grad from out-of-state.. thanks for any insight!

Try upstate NY. I've heard that Arizona hires but I cannot confirm that. Also I believe VA hires new grads.

I wouldn't say that AZ hires. I did get a job at the hospital where I worked before graduating, but not everyone who worked here in my graduating class got a job. One person was told she could continue on as unit secretary even after passing NCLEX. Lots of people from my class in Dec. 09 still looking. I did lots of networking with friends and coworkers here at the hospital to get my job.
