I think Trump was singular in that he really never tried to hide his corrupt use of the office of the presidency, which he started from day one and continued to do throughout.
He never tried to hide his contempt for immigrants and economically disadvantaged people from all backgrounds. He family separation policy was overtly cruel.
I find it outrageous, yet polls done when these things would flare up in the news showed large measures of indifference, not just from diehard Trumpers, but people in the middle as well. I always wondered why this was so, and all I can conclude is that they cared more about lower taxes than they did about all of the above. I try to ward off cynicism but stuff like this makes it difficult.

The vast majority of people at the protest that day were peaceful and taking an unguided tour of the capital pales in comparison to the damage done in leftist attacks last year. Ask any random person on the street what happened January 6th and they won’t know.
The vast majority of people who attended the rally and then went home were peaceful.
You know perfectly well those who didn't broke in, vandalized offices, threatened and injured the overwhelmed police officers.
Why are you minimizing those actions with dismissive and disrespectful terminology?
