So, in order to avoid taking the TEAS test, I decided to take all of my prereqs before starting the nursing program at my local community college. My academic advisor recommended that I take both Anatomy classes this summer. This means that each class is only 4 weeks long (aka a quarter of what you normally have for a class). My question is: has anyone done this before and what are your tips for success? This seems extremely fast-paced and any advice/tips would be helpful.
Just know you're going to use that material every day of nursing school and if you don't have a great grasp on it you will struggle. I don't even know how they fit it in 4 weeks. I took a summer class that was 7 weeks or so, 4 days a week for 3 hours, two tests a week... I can't even imagine fitting that in nearly teice as fast it makes no sense unless they are cutting out a lot of material at your school or something.
Hope you reconsider. This is the the foundation of pretty much everything else you will learn. It isn't nearly as important to get a good grade as it is to really know the material.
Exactly! I took a 3-week nutrition class because it is not as critical as A&P for nursing school. I would not take a 4-week A&P class - whoever came up with the idea to make a class like this is only focused on making money, not teaching students.
I just finished a&p1, and plan to take a&p2 in a 6 week summer course that starts on the 7th. My reasoning is that the course availability for fall semester just doesn't work for me at all and I'd rather take it as soon after ap1 as I can. I'm not working, and it's only 6 weeks of pure dedication. So, I'll give it my best shot! I'll check back here periodically to see how you're doing!

That's my thing. I'm either going to do both or nothing. Doesn't A&PII build on A&PI?
I wouldn't want to wait 2 months between an intensive course until the next one and it also fits into my work life better.

I would also stick to the same teacher as you'll know the testing pattern and how to study to make a good grade!

The TEAS is much easier than trying to learn a year's worth of material in 8 weeks! And A&P has way more material--in terms of both sheer memorization of parts and in complex physiological processes--than most classes. I spent all last summer on A&P I, got an A, but know it would probably be to my advantage to take it again this fall, rather than moving onto II. There was just so much freaking material that I memorized just long enough for the tests. Important material, too--like the basics of our (new) profession...
