School Choice Confliction!
Okay I really need some opinions please, I'm so conflicted! ðŸ˜ðŸ˜« My original plan was to attended a school I was accepted into starting this fall (UPMC Mercy Hospital School). I just LOVE this school so much and it seems so prefect. Except that it would be about an hour and a half commute everyday. I decided to take A&P 1 and 2 this summer. Originally I never looked at schools with prerequisites because I just wanted to jump right in. BUT! With the 2 classes I'm taking this summer, I realize that I could could attend another school because I would have completed all the prerequisites Washington Health System Hospital School) Pro's of this school: it's only 45 minutes from my house, it's HALF(!) the cost of the other school Con's: instead of starting this Fall 2018 and graduating Winter 2019, I would be starting Spring 2019 and graduating Summer 2020. I was just wondering if any of you had any options/help/ suggestions? I would really appreciate it!! Thanks so much!! 😊

A&P 1 AND 2
Hey Everyone!! SO! I was accepting to my Nursing Program (YAY!), but my school is about an hour away from where I live. So I decided to take some courses over the summer at another school so I {{hopefully}} don't have to drive into Pittsburgh 5 days a week. I called my school and got the classes all approved, so everything is good on that end. I decided to take both A&P 1 and 2 over the summer. They are online courses with online labs and each a month long. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for me to get through this!! I haven't ever taken an Anatomy class (not even in high school!!) Any help would be appreciated! Thanks bunches!!!!

Medical Insurance
I'm not sure what state you live in- but in PA, you can qualify for Medicaid if you make under X-amount in the last month. I have insurance through my parents bur no one in PA accepts it because it is Wisconsin insurance. I am going to wait until I start school and apply for Medicaid so I can actually be seen somewhere and not pay out the ***! I would consider looking at the Medicaid options in your state. I would apply now, but I make too much money Good Luck to you!!

How are people surviving financially while in a full-time ABSN program?
Hi! I'm going into an ADN program, which is 5 days a week all day, so I made a budget where I can work only weekends (12 hour shifts) and still be okay. I made sure that all my bills (car payment, insurance, etc) were less than one paycheck a month, which is around $400. Then my other pay check is for my gas, food, parking pass at school, etc. I'm fourtunate enough to have my fiancé who will help me pay for anything else that I need or didn't know I needed haha!! If I were you, I would first find a job where you can work a 12 hour shift, then plan your budget!

Upmc shadyside acceptance
Hi!! I applied to UPMC Mercy, they all have the same admissions so hopefully this helps! I sent in my application on Wednesday, March 7th. I called on Friday the 9th to make sure they had gotten all my application materials. She told me that they had gotten everything and I would be hearing a decision from me in "a week or 2". I hadn't heard anything after a week, so I called them again on Friday the 16th. She had told me I would hear in just a few days". On Tuesday the 20th I received an email saying I was accepted with more information to follow in the mail. On Thursday or Friday (not sure which day because I was working), I received a letter in the mail also saying I was accepted with items I had to mail back stating I was accepting my spot in the program. So all in all, it took only about two weeks for a decision. I hope this helps!! Let me know if you need any help! P.S. I would call the Shadyside number and just confirm with them they have all your application materials (transcripts, teas score, application, recommendations, etc). That could also be the hold up on your application if they don't have everything! --Miranda

Low GPA Accelerated nursing programs
Hi! I recently got accepting into UPMC Mercy of Pittsburgh. They don't really have a GPA "requirement". They moreso look at everything you submit to them as a whole. It's only a 16 month long program too (for ADN)! They also have no pre-requisites required. I had a 3.1 high school GPA and 1 semester of college with a 2.9 GPA. My TEAS Score was 80.7% and I was admitted! Their applications are due by JUNE 1st

Anyone know of any good LPN programs in the Pittsburgh area?
From what I know they only have the RN. It's not as competitive I think because not everyone knows about it. If you want your RN i would definitely check it out! They accept applications through June 1st.

Anyone know of any good LPN programs in the Pittsburgh area?
Hi!! I live about an hour and a half away from Pittsburgh (near Uniontown area). I'm not sure where you're from, if it's in Pittsburgh or what. But in Connellsville there is a good LPN school called PIHT. BUT! If you really want to become a nurse I'd apply! You don't just have to go to CCAC or WCCC. I applied to UPMC Mercy and just got accepted! It's only a 16 month program too!

Programs With No Pre-Reqs (Or no expiration date)
I'm not sure about BSN programs, but I know there are some ADN programs that don't need prereq's. I just got accepted into one in Pittsburgh!

Who to get a letter of recommendation from?
I got both of mine from coworkers (and I've only lived here/worked here about 6 months) and I got accepted into school. They don't base everything on just the LOR, essay, GPA, scores, etc. They look at everything as a whole! So just make sure you do good at everything else and you'll be fine! I'm sure your CNA instructor would be more than happy too as well. You could ask previous or current co-workers. Even if your class sizes are large at your school, you could still ask your professors/NP's if you were in good standing in the class. They notice more than you think also!! Best of luck to you!

Traveling for School?
I'm thinking I'll just suck it up and drive haha! My fiancé and I actually live with his parents right now (for free). When I calculated up the cost of rent vs cost to drive to school, it's a lot cheaper to just drive. Thank you!!

TEAS SCORE AND GPA
It all depends on what your program is looking at. I just got accepted to my program! I had a 3.1 high school GPA and 2.9 college GPA, and my TEAS score was 80.7%. If your school isn't too competitive I'm sure you'll be good!!!

Traveling for School?
Hi everyone!! I just got my acceptance letter to school! I AM SO EXCITED TO START! I was wondering how far each of you drive to school?? The only thing that is/was holding me back is the drive into my school. I live about an hour and 15-30 minutes from my school depending on traffic. Even though I'm accepting I'm still thinking about whether I want to go or not. I really love this school, and it's the only one around me. SO, how far does every one drive? Does this seem too far?? Thanks in advance!

Apply to Nursing School
I hope you get accepted too! I don't know anyone who's applied to my school, so I don't even know what to expect haha! I'm so afraid now I won't get accepted.... good luck to you as well!
