Study Skills Question
Hello! I'm finishing up my pre-reqs with hopes to apply to an RN program in January for a Fall 2019 start. I'm working through my bio classes now. I got a B in AP1 and a C in an AP2 summer course that I just finished. I'm retaking AP2 in the fall because OUCH, a C is a no go!! I'm a 30 year old mother of 2 and I'm realizing that a lot of the problem is my study skills. So, I'm asking for help and suggestions! Here are some things that I do that work well, but if you think there's a more efficient way, point it out, please! -I print out power points before class and read through them. -I print out learning objectives prior to class, but I just scan them and use them later. -I take in class notes ON the printed lecture slides using color coded high lighting and jotting down important supporting information that the professor mentions. I sit down after class and start working through the chapter learning objectives and make flash cards as I go for things that I think need them. This is where things get wishy washy for me. I don't really know what to do afterwards, because there's only one day before the next class, where I start all over again. Does anyone have a tried and true schedule? Because I feel like it starts to pile up this way. Monday goes well but then Wednesday I'm doing the same thing over again and before you know it, I spend all my time MAKING study materials and very little time interacting with them!

Pharm before Micro?
Whoa! I've never taken Stat so I'm nervous! I think I'll take it with Pharm. I was a Pharmacy Tech for years so I at least have the advantage that I remember the top 200 drugs and I can do calculations easily. I'm hoping that benefits me at least in the beginning of the class. I'll probably take Micro alone, then! Thanks :)

Pharm before Micro?
I was thinking in that direction, too. Learn the pathogens, then learn the drugs and their effects. So, if you've taken them both already, which do you think was more intense? I'm trying to decide which class to pair with Stat.

Pharm before Micro?
I'm a part time student at the moment and trying to work out my schedule for fall '18 and spring '19... I'll be applying to the RN program during spring semester (yay!). I'm knocking out my pre-reqs. Done with A&P1, taking A&P2 this summer (all by itself). So after summer, I'll have 2 semesters left to take 3 classes: Intro to Pharm, Microbiology, and Statistics. Do any of you feel like Micro should come before Pharm or vise versa? I'm not taking them together because being this close to applying, I want the strongest GPA possible. Stat will go with either one, so between Micro and Pharm, which one should I take alone and which one could go with Stat? I just really want to retain this stuff AND apply with a strong GPA.

A&P 1 and 2 in 8 Weeks??
I just finished a&p1, and plan to take a&p2 in a 6 week summer course that starts on the 7th. My reasoning is that the course availability for fall semester just doesn't work for me at all and I'd rather take it as soon after ap1 as I can. I'm not working, and it's only 6 weeks of pure dedication. So, I'll give it my best shot! I'll check back here periodically to see how you're doing!

What should I expect to be on the Kaplan Nursing entrance exam?
Hey :) Sorry to wake up this old post, but I was planning to use my HESI A2 book to study as well and I see no one had an answer for you here, but how did it help you? Do you wish you'd had the Kaplan study guide instead?

Tidewater Community College Spring 2017
Hey! I am a new student at TCC and I'm hoping to apply in January for a Fall 2017 start. I've downloaded and printed the program packet but I'm getting mixed information when I actually speak to people about the requirements. Prior to applying, which classes need to be done? The only pre reqs that I still need to take are Microbiology, A&P 1, and A&P 2. I'm taking Micro and a&p1 this fall. The application packet only mentions needing Micro prior to applying. Can anyone who recently applied or was recently accepted clear this up for me?
