A&P 1: The Spring '05 Anatomy & Physiology Club

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Ok, no one has started this yet, so I guess I will. I start A&P I on January 18th, lab and lecture.

Here are a few good websites I have found...some are basic, some may be more indepth than your instructor asks for.....BUT it gives you a little more to look over before class starts next month! :) ....Never forget the website for your actual book too!!!!!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU

Anyone using Martini Human Anatomy?I have so many books for anatomy ...ugh:rolleyes:

Also, when you have multiple classes,do you have set time to study each subject,or do you make a priority list of to dos for the day in order of importance?

At most,Ive only had 2 subjects at a time.I bumping up to 4 classes, plus the anatomy has a lab.Ive been trying to bump up each semester.

This semester is make or break..Im so scared!:uhoh3:

I have a 3.8 GPA.But,we have to get a 3.0 gpa on the sciences to apply. It's scary to have that pressure. It's been a long journey to get here. Now that the "real"classes are here...:imbar

Good luck to everyone!

Good luck amber74. For me, I would probably have a set study time, but let it be changed if you know you have a test coming up, etc. Only you will know the amount of time you need to study for each class. :)

Had my first A&P class this AM. 8:30-10:55. I have a lab workbook, the text book, two CD Roms and a skeletal reference guide. Back pain is too simple a term for what I felt today. We went over the syllabus, he told us what material to review for Thursdays lecture and lab. I feel like I am going to do pretty well in this class and this semester in general. I am taking 13 hours, A&P, Math 110, General Psych, and English 102. I feel like I am so young sometimes, college is a humbling expirience. Thank goodness I know someone in every class I have from high school and/or last semester. My only major concern with Anatomy is that there is a good three month break between now and the fall semester when I will probably be in A&P II which could cause me to fall out of sync with the routine of studying. The professers at our college teach the first half in A&P I and the second half in A&P II so I can hang on to those books at the end of the semester. I hope everyone else is having fun!

Hi Chad....just make sure the friends are a help to you, not a hinderance. There was a guy in my A&P class I took 12 years ago, then he ended up sitting by me the next day when he saw I had the same English class. We became really good friends, and I think we talked more than we paid attention. :crying2:

Good luck ....my class doesn't start until the 18th .....TR 11-1:50 lecture & lab :)

My scores were:

Visual: 7

Aural: 10

Read/Write: 9

Kinesthetic: 8

...doesn't help much. LOL

As for the PDA, my mom always gets us a "big" present each year. I think I may wait and tell here the exact PDA I want for Christmas next year. Of course, then there's the side of me that has to have it "NOW" when it comes to electronics. :lol2:

Mine was

Visual: 2

Aural: 5

Read/Write: 6

Kinesthetic: 1

I was one of those who was under 17 choices LOL. The Aural really surprised me because I dont think of myself as a hearing type learner but I guess maybe I am. Who knows.

As for the PDA and wanting it now!!!! Oh I am so with you on that one. I want one now now now, but then the logical side of me says, "no wait for new ones to come out." I wont start nursing classes till Jan 06 so Christmas would be perfect for me to get mine :) If you do get one let me know which one you chose and how you like it.

My A&P class is TR 9am - 1pm w/lab T and 9am - 11am R

Well, sometimes I can read something, and if someone else reads it I understand it better. It all depends on the question. I definately prefer to write things out...thinking the more times I see it, I can visualize it on a test. :chuckle

Now I can concentrate on A&P! My grade on my English final was a "100" and over all class grade was an "A"!

:balloons: :balloons:

Although I really hated having to take my psych and english over again......the new A's look so much better than the B's!!! :chuckle

..if I can onlly make it through A&P 1 with an A, I can make it to be a :nurse: !!!!!!

Congratulations!!!!!

Dont those A's feel good! When I got my report card I was beside myself with pride. I got an A in English and Biology. My Biology professor was suppose to be one of the toughest in the district and yet I found him to be fairly easy and predictable. I heard horror stories about him in the beginning and I just studied my hiney off and found that his exams werent hard at all.

I am saying the same thing about my A&P and Micro classes. If only I can make it through these two with an A...I can make it to be a nurse as well. I read on another thread that having tougher professors in the pre-req's better prepares you for the intesity of nursing classes. I sure hope that is true LOL. We can do this together, all of us in this club will do it.

Let's set a club goal and strive for an A!!!!!

:balloons: :balloons: :balloons:

Can I join your party? LOL

I'm so excited about the A in English. I took it as a winter term class, so we only had three weeks to do 5 papers, a midterm, and a final. SOOOOOO glad it's over!!!!! lol

GIVE ME AN A! GIVE YOU AN A! GIVE EVERYONE AN A!!!!! WHAT DOES THAT MEAN???????? (means we're going to study our "bootay's" off, that's what!!) :rotfl:

LMAO, you are too funny. Wow Fast track huh? I wish I had the option of fast track, but my cc doesnt offer any of the classes I need in fast track. :( Oh well, there arent that many gen ed classes anyway. I am actually thinking of just shooting for the moon and going for my BSN. Then I look at all those gen ed classes and think, WHAT???? Are you NUTS???? LOL I am just too old and dont have the time. What about you? Are you going for ASN or BSN?

Back in '91, I started out taking coures for the BSN, but didn't finish. Now, I have a scholarship for the ADN. So, WHEN I finish that, I'm going to do the RN-BSN route. (Mainly because that was my original goal.) Who knows, I may get the MSN, then the PhD. I can be called, "Dr. Nurse". :chuckle

Well today was more of an idea as to what I am in for. My goodness, I got so stressed out by the assignments in the lab workbook. I just felt absolutely stupid. Then after talking with someone else I was able to get a better grasp on what was going on. I am not stupid I realize this but just wow. Well, I am going to go outside of the college library and wait for the severe thunderstorms that should be here, Kentucky is wonderful, if you don't like the 70 degree mostly cloudy weather we are having today wait 24 hours and it is supposed to be snowing. LOL! I love it here.

LOL.....have you ever heard sayings about Texas weather? ...'bout the same, we were in shorts and tank tops one day, the next was heavy coat and gloves.

As for the class, I know how you feel. It does seem over whelming. Just try to relax, and study as much as you can. Talk to your instructor if there is anything you don't understand, and if possible, try to get extra lab time in. Good luck to ya! :)

congrats on the a- fun2care!!!! great job! & it's good motivation for this semester!
