A&P 1 Spring 08

Hi y'all! Anybody taking A&P 1 this coming spring semester? I'm trying to get as many pre-req's out of the way as possible and could use a study buddy or 2! Thanks! :)

Ever get to the point where you just feel like you can't read another thing about a dense connective tissue or a specialized connective tissue? I got that way last night. I could not read another word. Before long, the crying spell happened. (I don't think I cried this much when I was pregnant!) I like to think I'm pretty tough and that I can handle a lot of studying, but this is unreal! Maybe this really is the "weed 'em out" course people talk about! Okay, back to studying!

Bless your heart! I hate ct too! My big crying fits have been over that and the parts of the skull...I actually held a sphenoid bone in my hand yesterday in lab and told it I hated it...got an odd look from my lab partner but it made me feel better;). Hang in there! You can do it!

Has anyone's class already moved on to the Muscular System? We're on that now and I'm completely lost now. :sstrs:

The parts of the skull are so annoying! Today I brought an anatomy atlas to work with me and sat with old Mr. Skeleton there at my desk all day so I could stare at the bones allllll day long. I got a few strange looks, but mostly people have accepted that I'm a nut :)

:yeahthat: The skull is easily the hardest thing I've had to memorize so far...and I sincerely hope there's not anything worse!

I got an 85% on my first exam. I'm a little disappointed, but the class average was 69% so that made me feel a little better about my grade. I totally blanked on the pictures of the molecules Ribose and Deoxyribose.

I'm still trying to tackle tissues and the funniest thing occurred to me: Why can't I see what everybody else sees? I'll be looking at a slide and trying to identify it. I'm thinking to myself "oh, that's simple cuboidal epithelium". Oh, good try....it's actually hyaline cartilage! What?! It's like I'll never see what they see. Almost like one of those psychology test where they say look at the picture and tell me what you see! I see a potato...no, it's actually a man riding a bicycle! If it's this confusing with tissue, can't wait for the fun with bones! :yeah:

Got another 100% on a lab quiz tonight! But we've got a lab practical coming up in 2 weeks. EEK!

We're getting into the dermatomes, myotomes, synapses, etc. It's getting harder. So far I've found the muscles and bones to be pretty easy, but I hard it before in Kinesiology.

So how about I have a "quiz" over the entire skeletal system on Tues. in lecture AND THEN I have the freakin' lab practical (100 ?s, 45% of my final grade :bugeyes:) right after?! I swear to God, these people want me to have a nervous breakdown. On the bright side, I'll cover the skeletal materials while studying for the practical, and I get them over with in one fell swoop. Silver lining!:p
