Thanks so much!

I'm done with A&P and I got a B! I'm so excited since this was my first venture back into the classroom in over 13 years! I'm so glad I stuck it out and did not drop the class. I'm feeling really encouraged now about taking A&P II!

I got an 84 on my second exam in A&P! I was really hoping for an A, but I'll take an 84 (considering I got a 70 on my first one!) Nothing substitutes for just good-old fashioned studying, studying, studying!

I'm still trying to tackle tissues and the funniest thing occurred to me: Why can't I see what everybody else sees? I'll be looking at a slide and trying to identify it. I'm thinking to myself "oh, that's simple cuboidal epithelium". Oh, good try....it's actually hyaline cartilage! What?! It's like I'll never see what they see. Almost like one of those psychology test where they say look at the picture and tell me what you see! I see a potato...no, it's actually a man riding a bicycle! If it's this confusing with tissue, can't wait for the fun with bones!

Ever get to the point where you just feel like you can't read another thing about a dense connective tissue or a specialized connective tissue? I got that way last night. I could not read another word. Before long, the crying spell happened. (I don't think I cried this much when I was pregnant!) I like to think I'm pretty tough and that I can handle a lot of studying, but this is unreal! Maybe this really is the "weed 'em out" course people talk about! Okay, back to studying!

Just my 2 cents, but I think even A&P I and Statistics would be too much for a summer. I'm taking A&P I now during the Spring and, to me, it's like the equivalent of taking 3 courses at one time! So much memorization!

You said it..."with God's help I can do this"! Good luck on your test, too!

Morning all...just dropping by for a few minutes to get some encouragement from others going thru A&P I. This is the toughest course I've ever taken! As many have said before, there's just so much stuff to learn! I finally got over the hurdle I faced on the chemistry part (well, most of it anyway), and now I'm facing the tissues hurdle. It seems like for every tissue, organ, process, etc. that you must learn, there are at least 50 components to that organ, process, tissue that you have to memorize. I'm backlogged now! The chemistry and cellular metabolism portions took me a while to get so I had to stay on those like white on rice! I'm taking the course online, so I'm kind of able to pace myself. But in trying to make sure I understood everything from a chapter, I got behind on the chapter for the upcoming week. Not to mention the labs we have to complete and the discussions we have to participate in! And we have a chapter test every week! And I work full-time and have a 4-year old! I'm feeling very overwhelmed. I've got an exam on cellular metabolism, tissues and the integumentary system coming up on the 23rd. I just got to the point where I understand cellular metabolism! I've gone through a bit of the tissues chapter, but have to finish that, complete the lab, learn the integumentary chapter, complete the lab, and study for the exam on all 3 chapters! Now, that I've whined and gotten it off my chest, it's time to get off the computer so I can get some work done and study some more!

I'm taking A&P online. (Maybe that's part of my problem!) I know I'm going to do well in this class. I refuse to continue down the "70" road! It's just taking this old lady a little bit to get used to being in school again, but I've got my mojo now! Gonna push for an A and see what happens! Thanks for the encouragement!

Let me just say that I just had my first exam in A&P today and it was not pretty. I made a 70 (out of a possible 100!) I know what did me in...it was that chemistry. Well, that wasn't all of it. The other part was all of the "none of the above" and "all of the above" questions. What has me kinda bummed out is the fact that it is going to be extremely hard to pull an A in this class now. I'd have to be near perfect (95 or better!) on the remaining 4 exams. I'm going to give it all I've got, but I know it's going to be tough. (If I only had one class, it might not be so bad, but it's tough when this is not my only course--I have one other one that involves a lot of reading--PSYCH!) Thanks for letting me whine a bit...

Hi, everyone! Well, I'm taking A&P1 this spring, too, and I was really excited about this class. We're on our second week of class. The first week was very exciting...we covered the intro to A&P, levels of organization, characteristics of life, organization of the human body, etc. I was so hyped because, even though it was a lot of information, it was interesting and I was actually understanding it! Well, now we're on the second chapter--the chemistry of life. Just looking at the words isotopes and ions and covalent bonds sends my head spinning. There's just something about this chemistry part that is tough! It's not connecting yet. It's the chemical reactions and bonding parts that are confusing. Any suggestions on making this part easier to get through? If I can just make it through this chapter, I think I'll be back on track. The next chapter is on cells and seems infinitely more interesting. I don't want to just memorize the chemistry part, but I want to actually understand it!
