Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone,

I thought I'd go ahead and start a thread for A&P II. Does anyone know if there's a process to request a thread being made sticky?

Has anyone been getting a jump start on class by reading ahead? I found my Prof's powerpoint notes online, so I'm making some flash cards as well :)

Peace,

Cathie

Thanks.....I believe it will be a bit overwhelming at first....I have a husband, 2 children, and a weiner dog also.....but I think I can handle it....

lol well I am 20+ years out of school and went back I have 3 kids (twin boys w/adhd) and a daughter oh and a German shepherd heheheehe. oh ya a husband too but he is gone all week traveling for work.

So I went to class tonite for what I hoped would be a quick review for our Lab exam on the heart this Thursday...well boy was I wrong. First off we already had just received over 200 "study questions" to look up (which are so hard no one can seem to find the right answers) for our next test. And we have over 40 pages to read and write 2 essays on. All this within less than a week and a lab test. OK, well now the prof threw in another lecture test on the same day! Both tests this Thursday over 100 questions each! And part are over sections we haven't even covered (not once), ie lymphatic system.

I am just so sick of this class. I am 99% sure of dropping. This one class is more work and headache than all 3 of my other courses combined (and those include Micro and Stats!). I can make an appeal and get my tuition back according to the dean. In that case I can take the class over this summer.

I feel it is taking time away from other studies and jeapordizing the grades I need in the other classes, not to mention the huge stress it's adding to my already HUGELY stressful life.

I guess I just want someone to say, "It's not the end of the world if you drop the course."

What would you do?

Now there will be just 8 students left of the original 24. What a joke! Thanks for letting me vent.:uhoh3:

WOW.....What is you grade in this class......Are you half way through... You must have a prof from hell  And It's not the end of the world if you drop the class.....you have a heavy load with the other 2 classes you have. If you think that you are going to fail this course...then definetly drop it....and take it again when your course load isn't so heavy.....I am suprised that your advisor didn't warn you about how difficult your course load was going to be.....Taking A&P, Micro, and Stats, in the same semester would be very hard.....I would think??? I am taking A&P II beginning in April's quarter....we are in quarters at the college I attend....and going to semesters starting this summer.....I am going to take my micr this summer....but the summer quarter is shorter than before because of the change to semester....so that will either be good or bad....anyway....don't worry if you have to drop the class....main concern is your GPA, You definetly want to keep up your GPA....

Surprisingly, I still have an A in the class. After these next two tests I am certain that will fall substantially. We will be at the halfway point at the end of this week too. Should only have 3 more tests after this.

The only thing I can see myself doing is taking a day off work tomorrow and studying tonight (after work and Micro class) and all day tomorrow. I take all night classes. But taking off work for a day costs me $350! I hate to lose that money because of a crappy prof!

I will see how I feel at the end of the day today...

Its so not the end of the world if you drop that class! It could be though if you flunked it. I think at this point you have too much on your plate drop it and focus on the other 3 classes and pick up ap again next semester you will breath a sigh of relief once you get that weight off your back.

there is NO need to make yourself miserable!

Hey guys I really need your help with this. I currently have a B average in lecture for A&P II. I am 4 points away from an A average. My problem lies with lab. We work 90% of our time on the cadaver. The lab is a total of 300 points. We have to have at least 180 points to pass the lab. If we fail the lab we fail the entire class. I had my first lab practical last week. 120 questions, worth 90 points. I got a 40.5 on my practical:banghead: . We have 18 students in lab and the class average was 47.22. :chair: Since we work on the cadaver a lot we cannot take pictures on the cadaver its against the law. so we can only take pictures of the models. well we all know that is not much help. I was wondering was there any advice if anyone is taking this class for a second time on how to get through the lab. This is my first time taking A&P II and i want to keep it that way. I cannot believe i did so bad on the practical i just want to ball up and cry. Someone please help me.

What exactly are you having trouble with? Can you go inon your off time and study the Cadaver? I know its so much different on the models or books, my publishers website for our text has a suppliment you can buy for online cadaver tutorial also just do a google search for whatever area or system you are doing.

I am having the most problems with the nerves and arteries because they all look alike to me. the heart was a bit of a challenge for me because there were so many different types or models and everything looked so different. When i return to school next tuesday we will be starting on the muscles and nerves, plexus etc on the cadaver. The only time they have open lab i am always working.

I just wanted to send you big hugs. It sounds like you are having a rough go of it. Your teacher sounds like a real peach. Let us know how things go!!

Check to see if your library has a McMinn's atlas. It has color photographs of cadavers with incredible, detailed dissection! You'll first see an overview of a section, then superficial dissection, then progresses deeper and deeper depending on the body part.

I absolutely loved my class and McMinn's helped me greatly to achieve an A.

Good luck! Many hugs!!

That sounds like a great idea. The only downfall is that some places put color dye for nerves, and arteries. We don't have that option but I will be sure to try to find this information.

Thanks BlessedMom! Well, I toughed it out and studied hard and took the two tests yesterday. We had a writing assignment due too, but I didnt complete it and lucked out because she forgot to ask for it!

She actually had the nerve to call me into the hall before class to get on my case for leaving her class the other night. She even said, "I don't want to have to drop you from my class" - I can't believe she said that! She can't kick me out for missing one class. I told her she had no reason to be mad...I do my assignments and take my tests and am still pulling an A! She said, "oh, you think so?" What the?! I have a 100/88/88 and that averages to a 92. AAAGGHHH! I just have to laugh at this point.

The two tests weren't too bad...probably got a high B on the lecture and am certain that I got a 100 on the lab (it was a group lab test and we were able to collaborate with others in our group to label the heart model). Not that it helped me any, it just helped the other two girls in my group - since I was the only on who had studied! Oh well, I'll take my 100 and am happy to have helped my friends.

SPRING BREAK now...and just 3 more tests to go!
