A&P I.........Love it or hate it??

I'll be taking A&P this semester and have heard many people say they flunked the class because it was so hard and they hated it. On the other end of the spectrum have heard people say they love it. I know it's a lot crammed in all at once and I'm getting nervous about it. Most of the reactions I've been getting is that A&P is the only class I should take this semester because it's so hard. I'm taking 5 classes altogether. Are they exaggerating or are possibly the ones who didn't really study? Anyone have any thoughts on this or any info you can give me? I'd appriciate it, thanks! :)

I loved both my A&P classes. I had a great prof which I'm sure helped.

It's lots of work & material. The important thing is to stay on top of it & not get behind. I found the majority of it to be simple memorization.

One thing nice was that I found the material to be really interesting. Made me even more sure that nursing was for me.

I am loving it! It seems to be a massive amount of information, but it is manageable! I have taken two tests already and got 98% on both of them! It can be done! :)

Hi everybody and thanks for replying to my post. Answering a few other posts...I am a sahm of 4 bosy, 3 of which are in school are pretty independant at this point. My youngest is 17 months. Throuought my pre-req classes I will be attending nights wihle my husband is home with the kids and will be able t study during the day while my kids are at school. I am a pretty dedicated person when I am passionate about something and I was so dedicated to getting into school I studied for 2 weeks for my COMPASS exam. LOL I did so good on my reading and writing skills that the advisor was showing everyone in the office my scores. (Not bragging, just proud. I've been out of school for 10 years!) I DO ned a refresher on my math though. My least fav subject. Ugh. Thanks for everyones tips. I'll let ya know how I'm doing. Good luck to all!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved A&P, I found it fascinating! I took it with micro, chem, nutrtion, and algebra. It wasn't a fun semester, but I managed to do very well in all of the classes. What helped is some of the concepts overlapped and it really helped to reinforce it. Try to go into it with a positive attitude and study hard. Good Luck!

A&P I and II were my absolute favorite classes. You learn so much - it's amazing. I took a full course load at the same time I took A&P, but I also took the easy classes; english, develop psych, sociology, nutrition, etc. What really helped me get an A both times was re-writing my notes. I rewrote them at least 2x before each test. It made it much easier. I have to admit, my teacher was awesome, so I'm sure that helped me have a positive attitude about it. Good luck to you. :)

hi, and thanks for replying..so soon. :p i am taking eng 101, intro to computers, a&p, pre-algebra and a humanities (no sure which one yet). those are fairly easy classes other than a&p. plus i'll have 3 days off of school to study too. i hate memorizing things..ugh! do you have any good study tips for tihs particular class?
try color coding your questions and answers, statistics show this is the big thing that seems to trigger memory, it helped me big time especially if you're a visual learner. a&p is very tough, i took a&p i,ii, sociology, english comp. i, across the summer something i will never do again, i didn't have a life i literally lived and breathe a&p, what you would learn in a 14wk period, you learned in 8wks, i did it though to be able to bridge into the rn program, sometimes you have to sacrifice, and it will pay off! follow your heart, everyone mentality is not the same. i wish you all the luck

you can do it:balloons:

thanks a lot! color coding sounds like a great idea. i'm very much a visual person so i'll be able to relate to that technique the best i think. you guysare so encouraging here. hope to talk more with you all and good luck to everyone here pursuing their dreams.

I was wondering what college you will be attending. I am in Pike county KY myself. As for the class, I felt it took alot of time but I found the lab to be exciting. Best of Luck to you:)

I'm attending Owensboro Community College and will be getting my BSN at Western KY U. I am pretty sure I know where Pikevile is. Are schools pretty competitive in your area? I noticed at E'Town CC in their FAQ's section when asked if there was a waiting list there was a huge NO! posted. I am pretty sure there is a waiting list here but haven't formally spoken to my rn advisor yet. I guess it just varies from city to city.

I'm 1/4 through A&P I and so far I'm loving it. It is SO much more interesting to me than Microbiology (which I'm also taking right now). I'm holding steady with a 94% so far, and hope to keep an A in the class by the time it's done.

A & P will require a lot of your time. And that's if you like it. If you don't like it it's going to require even more! So, if the other classes you have scheduled don't require much of your time, then great, because you're not going to have it. I loved A & P and I also spent so much time on it I was dreaming about it at night. I got an A from all that studying and I found that the ones who really complained about it were the ones who put in the amount of time that a regular class would require (like the others on your list) and then bombed the exams. This course takes time. Period.

I did enjoy the classes--fascinating how the body works, etc. i think I would have liked it much more if I wasn't so stressed out with taking the other classes plus clinicals on the same day. Wasn't my choice--just the way it was set up. My lab instructor, who was fantastic by the way, felt bad for the nursing students in the class having to show up after a full day of clinical and be exhausted. She was the best instructor...ever! If it wasn't for her and her teaching we probably wouldn't have done as well as we did.
