Yes, we have our Thanksgiving in mid October. However, being so close to the U.S. we get inundated with "Thanksgiving t.v." and all the great shows that come on at this time of year. I love the classics/movies/other Christmas shows that start this weekend!

Are you going on to A&P II? Ours is all one course, continuing with the physiology portion after Christmas. Actually, we are starting the first physiology chapter in lecture this week and next so ... I hope we don't get too far because I need to concentrate on reviewing the stuff I've learned so far kwim?

I'm glad you will soon be done with this prof!

thank you so much for your response, I am taking microbiology this spring and A&P2 next fall. Since I still have a few more courses to take it doesn't really matter which ones I take first...all will be hard and the teacher that I wanted for A&P2 doesn't teach this coming spring. My micro teacher is supposed to be really great, I am looking forward to it. Right now I am studying my brains out trying to remember origins, insertions and actions of 35 muscles 16 nerves and there will be more stuff of muscle contraction and muscle fiber components.....aaaarrrrgggghhhh almost over!!!!!! He didn't tell us how he will ask about it, I'll go crazy when it's time off, baking and shopping :rotfl:

Oh good -- we will meet in the microbiology thread again!! I think it is good to wait for the teacher you want for A&P II, that's for sure, especially after the time you've had in the first half!!!

It was another long day at school .. I don't feel into it at the moment. I think I am a little saturated at the moment and need a night off! We are meeting again on Sunday night at the lab to go over stuff. I am a little sick of the lab. I'm also feeling a little well, I don't know what .... no energy for words, I guess!

Hey, I am finally getting my anterior compartment shin/leg problem looked at. I need to contact a physio still and am seeing the sports doctor at our clinic next week. I can't remember if I told you about that or not. I figure I HAVE to get back to the gym and one less excuse will help me get back. If I don't, I'll never be able to get into the nursing profession as I'll just fall down panting! lol

Take care and relax after the studying! I think I am taking the night off and going to bed early!

I exercise regularly and believe me it helps! Was on crutches a few years ago because of early osteoarthritis, ended up in the ER because we were moving and overused my leg. Bad nurse pushed me facing a wall while I was in wheelchair in pain.....that's why I want to be a GOOD nurse :) exercise is a MUST and part of my therapy since. Now I am virtually pain free with small flareups. Strengthening those quads (rectus femoris and it's vastus cousins :rotfl: ) is very important for me.

You'll feel better, and will have more energy. Helps me keep that adipose tissue under control, too. (Trust me I am not skinny but would be much larger) We're gonna be super nurses, in super shape :rotfl:

TAke care and get some rest, very important.

I didn't know that you had osteoarthritis! It gives me hope as I have been worrying about arthritis lately -- one of my hands was really hurting the other day and still isn't right. I figure my doctor jinxed me by asking me at my last visit if I had had any sign of it and I said, no, never, not at all. Then one of my study partners said, "Yeah, how can you be a nurse if you have arthritis?" Gee, thanks, I wasn't worried about THAT at all! Then another friend made me feel better by saying "easy". (well, maybe not easy but I am glad to know all hope would not be lost if this is what this is)

I agree re the exercising. I was in very good shape several years ago and was a ten year daily Y girl -- cardio and strength training -- and I loved it. I quit several years ago because of problems with one of the guys there and one thing led to another and before I knew it I also was dealing with the leg issue (exercise injury and I'm blaming it on my power walking to and from the gym to avoid that guy LOL LOL) and getting worse and worse, etc. It was a complete mental block and I know it and I am having trouble getting back but I will!! (to a different gym, btw) I also have a lab partner who is a total fitness nut -- and I don't know if she understands how difficult it actually is to be battling the weight and injury (not to mention that mental block). It's good to have her there for inspiration as long as she realizes I have to get through these blocks!!

Thanks so much for the encouragement! I know that you have done very well in maintaining your fitness level. I need to get back to that point and get it part of me again.

Last night I didn't get to bed early because my dh was on the phone dealing with an issue regarding an upcoming meeting and so we sat up and chatted about that for a bit. Also, Mr. Kitty (Oliver -- 2.5 yo) seems to have a recurrance of his urinary tract troubles and has been merowling all night. It's his own fault as he eats everything in sight, including the dog food. We really really can't afford a big vet bill at the moment!

We're off to the big city (2 hours away) for a camp dinner tonight so I won't be too into the books today! Take care and hope everyone is doing great! Thanks for listening to my rambling!

I have it only in my right knee and I tend to get bursitis in it also....broke my right tibia when I was 12 years old and had nothing but trouble with that leg since. Although it has gotten better since starting physical therapy ca. ten years ago. Nothing helps better than moving the joint. I do LOTS of stationary biking, at least 30 min a day. I have one at home so there are no excuses! I can always tell the difference if I don't ride the bike for a couple of days. Walking can cause pain so I limit it and I don't run. there are excellent exercise tapes available, I like Kathy Smith....you don't need a gym, do it at home. I know going to the gym can be a challenge if there are some obnoxious guys out there. At our gym there is this individual who will sit on a machine forever because it is right at the entrance to the lady's restroom...watching every butt going in and every butt coming out...very annoying. A few days ago they moved the equipment around and his FAVORITE spot has been moved :chuckle spoiling his fun! Some guys think it's a free peepshow, I guess. Maybe you can find a ladies only gym?

Also, I take glucosamine and chondoitrin supplement....helps with the pain factor also. Hadn't taken it for a while and felt a difference in stiffness. Well, I am 46, not a springchicken anymore....things could be worse though.

Take care and start slowly at your pace. Alsways good to talk to you. :)

Next semester's A&P's threads have started (thanks, Kayel) and I have made them both stickies.

When is the semester over? If you wish I can close this thread.

4_19_1.gif Thanks!!! You are the one and I for one really appreciate the sticky! I hope I wasn't rushing it too much!

I would say we should leave this thread until Christmas as most of us have exams into the middle of December. Thank you so much!!!!!

Well, the cat did wind up with a urinary tract infection of some kind. He's been at the vet's since Saturday a.m. and I think we are supposed to pick him up tomorrow. Rats, I did NOT need another bill right now!

Oh, and tonight I go to the lab to study with the gang .. hopefully there won't be too too many there. I don't know if I would go if my friends weren't though.

We have our big lab exam on Friday!! Keep me in your prayers! I am feeling okay about it .. I don't know it all by ANY stretch of the imagination but I think I would at least pass if I took it today.
