A&P I: Fall '05 Anatomy & Physiology Club

Hello all,

I'm taking A&P 1 at the local community college, Tuesdays and Thursdays, just finished up day 2 yesterday and I'm already in UH OH mode looking at the material, lol.. my friends in my same class are currently IN the nursing program (I'm hoping I'll start this January, just found out I passed the NET and I dropped off my application today!) so my friends are happily shooting for the required minimum 75%.. I was told in a prenursing info meeting that the sciences (esp A&P) are heavily weighted for 'getting in' so I'm bound and determined to make an A. I'm also taking Speech, Intro to Psych and English Comp 2 so my plate is full! It'll be nice checking in here to see how others are fairing!

See, that's kind of what I want to do, but I also have this thing against flashcards... lol

I hope the completion of A&P 2 was celibrated with a flashcard burning cerimony.

I took A+P 2 over the summer and had over 4000 flashcards...my fiancee made fun of me all the time...he'd quiz me using them and I'd slip a card in saying " Name the annoying person who is making me read all these stupid cards" etc....ha ha

We are using the holes anatomy book, and the website they have for the book is really great. Although... being as my teacher isnt even using the book, and are being tested strictly from our notes for the first test...... i am not to sure how this is going to go now. I have been studying all the body cavities and stuff...... inferior, superior, dorsal...... and that isnt even on our first test. Although it is most of the first chapter....... geeeeeeezzzzzzzz i guess i just need to leave the book alone for now. I was sitting in class today (M W F 11:00-11:50) and realized that the teacher talked like my very ADD 15 yo son. He could take one simple thing..... go around it 15 diff ways and never really say anything ! This is going to be a long semester! I hope u guys are fairing better than i am. :confused:

Ha! Ha! Ha! I totally had a flashcard burning ceremony after Molecular Bio...another classmate came over and had a WHOPPING fire! I understand the desire~

Hello everyone,

I am in my second week of A&P and I am already wanting to tear my hair out. I was in lab tonight and we were looking through the microscopes for the first time and I couldn't see any of the objects were were supposed to be looking at! Neither could my lab partners. The teacher was not very helpfull either. I was wondering if I am just dumb or if anyone else has encountered this sort of thing.

I just got back from my orientation. Its an online lecture/ in class lab.

I came out of the class so glad that I decided to only take Anatomy and yoga.So,I have the first 2 chapters of Martini to read by tomorrow..yikes! :rolleyes:

Just a question: do we stick with this one thread all semester/both semesters or can we have a weekly thread of updates? I know you can select having the most recent posts first on here (and also select "view first unread") but I mostly find that confusing at this point.

Anyway, just thought I'd ask if it's a possibility and/or if it's just up to one of us! Thanks for your input!!

I'm dropping A&P tomorrow. Between it and math, I can't do this. I'm having to go to A&P from 11-2, then go pick up my kids in another town from school, go home, TRY to study....which I discovered is IMPOSSIBLE....take them to my moms (back by the kids school....they go to a school OUT of our district), go back to school at 6pm (45 minute drive) until 8:30, then back home )(45 minute drive).

It's killing me. I've had a migrane almost daily and I've cried over this every day. I just need to wait until I can get a better schedule or until my kids are older. I feel like such a failure. :crying2:

A new thread sounds great to me. I suppose one of us needs to start that and then just inform everybody on this thread where it is and what it's titled. I agree, it's getting pretty jammed in here. :chuckle

Don't feel like a failure - life is what has happened to a lot of us and why we have had to put things off. Maybe you can just take one class at a time until things get a little less chaotic. I know I have put off school for quite a while just because it wasn't feasable and even now I can only fit in two online classes at a time. I was really upset I didn't have time to take any classes over the summer and felt like I was getting behind and lost, but it's better this semester. Keep your chin up - ultimately, you will attain your goal, just don't give up. Some of us will take longer than others, but in the end, we will all make it as long as we keep trying.
