So, I'm in! I've got this and College algebra and I'm DONE with all my pre-reqs and related courses. I dropped this this past Spring, so I know how hard it is. Hopefully I'll have a better instructor this time that actually knows how to teach the class.
I started my A&P class Monday. right now the class is more like chemistry than A&P we have to memorize part of the periodic table , protons, neutrons, electrons, are they stable, not stable, how they share to become stable........ ughhhhh :uhoh21: . This is gonna be alot of work. Good Luck to evreyone!

I startted class last monday. So far okay. Lots of terms that make my head spin, but I LOVE lab. I had my first lab today. Watching videos of autopsies and seeing examples of disected cats is just absolutely amazing!
So here's my question... What kind of study techneques are people using? Right now I'm thinking that flash cards would be best (I hate flash cards). My idea is maybe printing out pics and using a few words to describe would be best for flashcards??
Hey Casi...not in A+P I.....I'm done with both A+Ps and got A's in both. My strategy was mainly flashcards..but I didn't buy any of them. I wrote them all myself ( hundreds per test) and each one was a direct question ( ie Name the tissue that composes the wall of the bladder) and on the other side it would say " transitional". I made some easy, some so-so, and some really HARD. I did them every day- went through them everyday- and kept going until I could get all right - before the test. I also did the tests in the back of the book + tests I found online.
For lab I took pictures and would post them on one side of an index card with the answer on the other. Some were " name this structire, or name this organ, or name this bone" and others were more in depth" name the function of.....etc".
I took A+P 2 over the summer and had over 4000 flashcards...my fiancee made fun of me all the time...he'd quiz me using them and I'd slip a card in saying " Name the annoying person who is making me read all these stupid cards" etc....ha ha
GOOD LUCK!
I start a/p I on sept 7th. My lecture is m/w 10-1150 and my lab is wed 330-550. I have the same professor for both lab and lecture...
We will be dissecting the Mink which is cool because I had a cat in highschool anatomy. I purchased the lab dissection manual for the mink even though it was not required only recommended.
My mom bought me this huge box of flash cards, and a coloring book. She also ordered me "anatomy for dummies" :) I think she believes I need some help
Im getting kind of nervous even though I only have this class and intro to psyc this semester, both of them require a lot of memorizatoin on words/bones etc... I've been coloring and looking at pics of different muscles bones etc.
My textbook, Marieb 6th edition, came with a wonderful full color poster type book, with all the bones muscles nerves etc. all detailed its awesome!
Good luck to you all

I also saw a bunch of flash-cards at Barnes 'N Nobles. I didn't buy any, but there were several different ones to choose from and a variety of price-ranges. In that store, there was a specific "Nursing" section with all sorts of things geared toward pre-nursing and nursing. Have fun, but be careful - I could've easily spent a fortune in there
