A & P 1 -- Fall 2010

Published

OK, I've started this thread for various past semesters and something always happened that made me have to drop the course.

But here I go again - just registered for A & P 1 for this coming fall!!!!! And I refuse to let anything get in my way this time...

So who's with me?

Specializes in Nursing Education, CVICU, Float Pool.

How did you do your labs. B/C. I heard some say they have to do abs at school some do virtualabs onlines with virtual dissection etc... In my class they send you a lab kit through the mail with all the necessary materials! Do you like this way of learning? (Online A&P that is).

Our lab was done online using Anatomy&Physiology Revealed -- an virtual cadaver dissection.

I really like the flexibility of an online class. I could read and study on my time rather than having to be in class at a certain time, and I like things being open book...but I prefer having someone to teach rather than teaching myself.

Did you do the online class through your school?

I am afraid that it looks like I will just be taking Chem this semester and not Chem AND A&P. My job is going to have me doing some traveling on the days I would be in A&P, so really...I guess I don't have an option.

I'm super bummed, but really, it's probably a better idea. Taking two science classes and not getting home til 11pm Mon-Thurs would probably be a recipe for failure.

I didn't do it through my school...I took it through Broome Community College.

Hmm...in looking at my schedule, I guess I could use some advice. It appears as though I will only be missing ONE class due to travel, and the rest of my travel will be local.

I would be missing the fifth A&P class session. How detrimental do you think this would be to my grade?

If you're only going to miss one...not very, as long as the class meets 2 or 3 times a week rather than just once a week.

It does meet twice a week. I think I will go to the first class today, and see if I can talk to the instructor about it.

Hmm...well, it didn't go too well. Not only is the instructor strict about attendance, she said, "We have our first quiz that day. If you'll notice, I don't give make up quizzes."

Which is fine! She can run her class however she wants. I'm just sad for myself. lol

I still have Chem and Psychology, so A&P will have to wait.

I will be taking A&P I, Chem with basically 2 labs, and Nutrition. It is intimidating hearing everyone always talking about how hard it is but I am sure I can do well if I study, study, study! I may be taking some shortcuts on the "mom front" this semester cooking and cleaning for the kids but I am confident this will be worth it!

Specializes in NICU, Cardiac.

I'm registered for A&P1 and Micro this fall. I'm super nervous (especially with three kids to take care of), but so excited to be on the road towards nursing school. My TEAS is out of the way with an 87, so I really just have to do awesome in these classes and will hopefully be in for Fall 2011 :) Good luck!

Specializes in no experience yet.

My class officially starts on Tuesday but I am getting a head start with the first chapter this week. There is SO much information in this class to learn and I want to be a little ahead if I can. It's interesting but good grief you have to remember a lot.

Specializes in ER Observation.

Im only taking two courses this semester because I took off for the spring and the the summer earlier this year and my advisor told me just to start out with two courses this semester because I only have six courses total to finish for my prereq's before applying to nursing school next fall. So this semester I'm taking A&P 1 and Speech. I start next monday on Aug 23.
