A & P 1 -- Fall 2010

Published

OK, I've started this thread for various past semesters and something always happened that made me have to drop the course.

But here I go again - just registered for A & P 1 for this coming fall!!!!! And I refuse to let anything get in my way this time...

So who's with me?

I'm also taking A&P 1 along with CHEM this fall. Hoping we all do well

What is everyone's study plan?

My plan is to read each chapter and take notes (leaving a margin on the left hand side of the paper for questions I may have and anything the professor adds). I also have A&P for Dummies, I plan to read this as we move through each system as an overview before the textbook. Tons of index cards. I was looking for a coloring book, I'm leaning towards Kaplan.

Has anyone heard any reviews of Lippincott's Straight A's in Anatomy and Physiology book? I was reviewing it in the bookstore and I loved the layout and delivery.

I bought the Kaplan anatomy coloring book AND the box of flash cards. Honestly, I like the flash cards better! They are small so you can take them with you, and in the coloring book, the answers are right on the bottom of the page, so it is hard not to accidentally see them. I like the answers on the back of the card, so you can flip back and forth. AND the same written info from the the book is on the cards.

Gee, can you tell I like the flash cards? Hahaha. :lol2:

Hi...I received my book and cd today! I am so excited to get started, but OMG, the book looks intimidating! :uhoh3:

What does everyone think? Are there things that you all are doing now to help you prepare for class?

^ What book do you have? Not all books are intimidating.

I had Martini for A&P I, but Saladin for A&P II...and the Martini book is way more intimidating and difficult than the Saladin book!

Well, I guess that is good to hear cause I have the Saladin book! I think I am also worked up a bit because of all the comments I hear from others about the course and how hard it is. Since you have already taken it, what was your experience?

A&P I is a lot worse than A&P II (but a lot of that, I think, is the book)...

DEFINITELY stay on top of your reading (and that's actually bearable/not bad with the Saladin book -- it's written in a very readable manner that's easy to understand, but not lacking information). Also get a coloring book and/or flashcards.

It is hard...but it isn't impossible. Muscles are probably some of the hardest things, so get a start on them.

Good luck!

I just registered yesterday. My offical schedule is A&P1, Psy 241 (Developmental Psychology), ACA 115 (College Success and Study skills), and MAT 070.

I start A&P I on Monday, August 16th. I'm actually taking the class online (the lab is not online). I'm also taking Microbiology, English Comp I, Spiritual Perspectives (I'm attending a Baptist nursing school), and Medical Terminology.

I'm taking A&P online as well. Most people tell me that they like it better online.

i'm one of those people who liked it better online...but i think a lot of that is that i had pretty awful professors when i took it in person. the first didn't teach, and the second was crazy and said "i don't care" at least 5 times/class when she was lecturing, and made tests so hard that at one point, to have a c [color=#333333] (which at my school is 73%), you only needed 114/200 points...and at another point you only needed 249/400. the other major reason online was better is that all my labs and lecture tests were open book which makes it much less stressful.
