I'd take my chances and order it online and wait instead of paying the bookstore millions.
Can you buy it in the bookstore, order it online, and then return the bookstore copies at the end of drop/add?

My friend did this. Personally, I never used or read the physio, anatomy, or micro books when I took the classes; my teacher had 2 PhDs and wrote all you needed to know on the board or in lecture. However, you will use those books in nursing school as well for reference. Wait until you get to nursing school....they are even more, when I buy my books the people at the register look shocked at the amount of books I have to purchase, even look a little sorry for me.
Does your school not sell used copies? If you buy your books early enough there are always uses copies, but they go fast.

You're lucky. My school's bookstore is now being run by Barnes and Noble and they don't release the ISBN # online at all. They also don't put the books on the shelves until about one week before classes start. All they show online now is the last name of the author (or sometimes the publisher) and part of the title which makes the actual book harder to find especially when one author may have a few different similarly titled Anatomy books. I've given up and just started buying the book from the bookstore. Especially after I bought my Speech class book online only to find on the first night of class that they'd changed teachers and the new teacher wanted us to use a different book. So I was out the money for the online book and I had to buy the bookstore book. It's definitely highway robbery.
they dont have used copies, and... if we dont have the book we cant go to class, since we cant waste time, because it is a 4 week course! and then ap2 for another 4 weeks

I bought an older edition for less than half the price. In fact even before I took the class I had bought a really old edition of a different textbook for $10. Turns out that a lot of the information I needed for the test was in the older textbook. I never buy the new edition of any textbook. If you're worried ask the professor if the new edition is needed. The only drawback to buying older editions is that it's harder to sell them off at the end of the term, but you can always keep them for reference.
abebooks.com is a good source for textbooks. I always try them first and they seem to have the best selection and best prices.

Hopefully you'll be able to return them at the end of the year. My A&P book cost $180 and I ended up getting $130 back for it. Normally I would've kept the book for reference but I found some books at the book store that were more useful and WAY cheaper.

abebooks.com has some of the "international versions" which means they are softcover/diff pic BUT same book. I know, I used one as my school uses same book. A FEW of the sellers offer overnight. I ordered book $40 plus overnight ship = $60.

I feel it's wrong that bookstores don't release ISBN. My workaround is to write the professor and ask for the name and the ISBN. That is the least they can do for you.

Attention....For anyone whose college bookstores are not releasing the ISBN #'s that is against the law. You have every right to ask for the Manager if you still have trouble w/any of the associates working at the store. The stores cannot hide the title or especially ISBN # of any book from any student because that store and management can be reported. Be the assertive one and stand your ground. Do not let the bookstores rip you off!!
Certainly, you have every right to also email your Prof. and ask her/him for the title of the book and author and also ask if you can use the edition below thre one that is listed for the classs. Most times you can certainly use the edition below w/no problems. You will save up to 80% by purchasing the books online and getting the prior edition.
I do hope you all will not let the bookstores control you as the student. Please take my advice seriously. Any other questions, just pm me.
