what would you do?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

i come up with a different career choice every week almost, last week it was a paralegal, the week before that it was an attorney, this week i want to become a nurse practioner...

if you could choose any path in nursing (dont let school hold you back) what would it be? what did you get excited about in nursing school? are you doing what you want to do now? do you have an enjoyable uncommon nursing job?

when i was in nursing school i wanted to become a women's services nurse practioner and provide prenatal care to those who wouldnt otherwise get it, then i realized i'd also like to get paid a little... now i am getting paid but feel like i would be happier somewhere else.... i want out of the hospital and off the night shift, but i dont want to lose the flexable scheduling and being off 4 days a week.... (doesnt everyone?)

an attorney, a medical equipment rep, a nurse practioner, a midwife, a nurse educator...

I would teach....or consult re: religious needs/differences of clients.

Specializes in Critical Care.

If I was younger and could start all over again I would become a veternarian

Howdy yall

from deep in the heat of texas

I would be a professional golfer, easy guess huh

doo wah ditty

OK, Don't laugh at me. I love the medical field and would love to become a doctor. I would go into medical school if I had it to do over again. I still may when all the kids are grown, who knows? I've looked into becoming a PA or NP, but I feel that others would see me as a second-rate doctor and not the qualified professional that I am. I guess it's similar to being an LPN and being treated like a second rate nurse!! I guess if I'm going to do all that work, I might as well go all the way and become a physician/surgeon. I love dermatology. Many people think it's just acne, but that's the farthest thing from the truth. We did melanoma surgeries, biopsies, cosmetic procedures, etc....Great experience!! Love it!!

I'm going to go to vet school in a few years. It's what I've always wanted to do, so if I were to do it all over again I'd just do it earlier. :)

I'd write Harlequin romances in my pink fluffy boudoir while wearing gossamer clothing. Of course nurses would star in all of them. :)

Interestingly a dear nurse friend and I were speaking of this just the other day. I remember telling her if I were growing up today and could choose a career path, I'd want to become a veternarian!

I'm a devoted NICU nurse with my RNC, love transporting babies and precepting new nurses too. I also have 7 years of experience with Well Babies, Post-Partum, and Ante-Partum Moms.

I'm thinking of returning to nursing (been out for 2 1/2 years) and if there is no room for me in a Level III NICU, I'm thinking I'd like to look into Hospice or Psychiatric Nursing.

Sigh...

If I hah it to do all over again.. I think I'd pick being Julia Roberts instead of nursing

Specializes in MS Home Health.

I just got my BS in nutrition in Feb. and am working on my MS in nutrition which I plan to have done by March. Then I am going on for my PHD so I can teach nutrition.

I have worked in ICU for 12 years and have found my real passion lies in palliative care or hospice. I have spent too many years watching people die awful deaths. I'm thinking about changing my entire focus and becoming a NP specializing in Palliative Care. But given the chance to do it all over, I'd be a travel agent and be married to Tom Brady!

I'd be a lawyer (really.) :)
