  1. Hmm........ i was lying on my back Staring at the ceiling fan you were lyin' through your teeth And drivin' that ol' van.... ................................ummmmm... ................................ok
  2. LOL! Too funny, but I can relate! I was once sitting on the floor watching a Tiger's baseball game.the thing went into double overtime and I started to get a little 'crampy".so I stretched..just a normal stretch there on the floor with my back against the couch....same "pop" and I was consigned to the floor (couldn't get up into the bed) for several weeks.....on muscle relaxers and pain meds..was soooooo groggy during that time....but I do remember that my birthday came and went and my dear hubby had PLANNED to take me out to dinner for it.so, since I was "floor bound" he took the kids instead.left me alone on the floor...staring at the ceiling fan..no card, no cake ("well, how could you even blow out the candles?")..started feeling sorry for myself and ......UGH! Crying.there on my back...the stupid tears ran into my ears...very cold and uncomfortable...made me wanna cry more....couldn't reach any tissues.....all because Sparky Anderson wouldn't pull Hernandez and go to a relief pitcher!!! I have never forgiven him!!!!!!
  3. This computer thing makes spelling and grammar errors sometimes...hit the worng key..(see..that was an accident.would have missed it if I hadn't had to answer the door and then come back to the keyboard)...WRONG key....type too fast..it is just too easy to mess up with these things!
  4. 1) Hospital type bed so I can adjust the pressure on the back often 2)special shoes 3)motrin often 4)learning to say, "My back really hurts....can you help me here?" to co-workers.
  5. It is aggravating to have to deal with repeated admissions that were preventable..but on the other side, I remember two residents discussing a patient with disgust because the client insisted on being a "full code" and the doctors felt they knew best, that THEY knew the "quality of life" was inadequate! If we allow doctors to dictate "compliance" we may be allowing them to dictate, period! There is also the issue of prejudice! One nurse mentioned weight..it is becoming the new target politically.....for many years I have seen the cardiologists chastise, insult, cajole..and even refuse to treat overweight FEMALES....(some who were only overweight by the insurance companies strictest Guidelines) while MALES who needed "bigboy" beds and were too heavy for the cath table were NEVER heard a word about weight. Give the docs more power, and some will subconsciously discriminate!
  6. Most places I have worked had "pull partners" which meant that ICU's and CCU's can be "pulled" to ER and vice versa......med surg and rehab can be pulled back and forth, etc......but we were never trained to the "sister" units..fortunately the paperwork was is consistant.
