Just Finished RN-BSN Program

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

I just completed the RN-BSN program at UTA last month, if you have any questions or need to talk to a UTA graduate feel free to ask.

Specializes in ICU.

just an update from research. The course is no longer designed to be completed as a group activity. All assignments are your responsibility only! Yay!!! Not having to work with other people and depending on them for my grade is a huge plus. Again, none of the course is designed to be done in a group, ever.

Hi saharaRN33, thanks for the update. Glad to hear that no group activity needed. How was it? I am thinking about doubling up Research and Capstone? Is it doable? Please advise... ;) Thanks in advance,

Specializes in Trauma, ER, Jail, Medical.

I start the 18th of May. I am taking the NURS 3345 and 3375. My classes are posted as 5 week courses is this the same for the prerequisite courses as well?

Prerequisite classes are 8 weeks instead of 5.

Most of the general ed courses are 8 weeks with the exception of English 2338 (technical writing) it is a 5 week course

Specializes in Medical Oncology.

Guidance please

1. Fortunately my OCN serves as 1/2 electives and need to decide on the other elective. Co-op course, Medical terminology or Legacy of the family?

THANKS

I am starting the RN to BSN on July 4th. I was doing the RN to MSN program at Capella but found out I wouldn't be able to get the specific nurse faculty loan I wanted there so I decided to transfer. I think I'm really going to like UTA! Turns out it's going to save me lots of money too í ½í²° í ½í²° I'm starting with Tech Writing and Nurs3345.

Did I hear right that the research course is no longer based on group work?

That is correct - WOOHOO! You are in control of your own destiny (and grade). I completed the Research in May and enjoyed the class. As others point out with all UTA courses it is important to stay with or ahead of the assignments to ensure a good grade. If you read and follow the instructions carefully you will do well.

The final paper will be based on your identified PICO question so start thinking about that now. My PICO question was based on challenges with oral chemotherapy adherence.

Hope this helps!

Great! Thank you! I'm excited to start!

Congrats on getting started BenjaminsMom! I'm curious to know, since you were doing the RN to MSN program at Capella, why have you decided to do the RN to BSN program at UTA instead of the RN to MSN program at UTA?

Pearlyapple I eventually want to work my way up to a terminal degree (not sure if I'd choose DNP or PhD) so I really want to be able to use the "nurse faculty loan program" to offset some of my student loan debt. Unfortunately Capella doesn't participate in the loan program at this time. I found out UTA does and they were my other top choice so I had even already been accepted :) I absolutely loved Capella, it's a great program with fantastic faculty from what I've seen so far although I'm just finishing the first course. I'm glad it worked out this way because Capella really got me up to speed with scholarly writing. I'm looking forward to starting at UTA and it will take me about the same amount of time to get to an MSN degree.

Oops I just reread your question LOL sorry I've been taking care of my 2 year old son who's had strep, bilateral ear infections, a URI and vomiting for 3 days. I'm tired LOL

Yes I am actually pursuing the RN to MSN at UTA. I'm just starting the BSN portion next month.
