Just Finished RN-BSN Program

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

I just completed the RN-BSN program at UTA last month, if you have any questions or need to talk to a UTA graduate feel free to ask.

Hello All!!!

I'm starting the online RN-BSN this Fall!!!

How is it so far??

Any advise on Nursing 3345????

I have history 1and 2

Upper nursing elective

And the remaining nursing courses...

I'm in no rush but I've never taken 1 class in 5 weeks. This format will be new for me.

Any advice or input would help.

Thanks

Hi there, I'm curious to know if you started as a provisional student when you did the RN-BSN program? They haven't evaluated all my transcripts yet and suggested I start as provisional, meaning I'd take the first two classes now (professional nursing and health promotions) and then wait for my roadmap after the second class. Is this the path you took as well and were able to complete the program in 10 months?

Congratulations!!! May I ask, did you do the RN to BSN on line class? I'm about to start the RN to BSN online this fall.

Hi Siyue, I start Capstone tomorrow and then I am done. I am in the RN to BSN Online program. Hope you are doing well in the program. Feel free to ask any questions you may have along the way! Sometimes just talking with someone who has done it alleviates stress! I worked full time throughout and our kids are grown. The only time my life came to a standstill during this program was for Algebra, Statistics and Research. Other than those, the classes are pretty steady. It keeps you busy, but it is a very well organized program. That has made a huge difference! Feel free to email me [email protected]. Good luck!

This is for UTA, Online RN-BSN program:

I understand that we need to have our license, but I'm reading conflicting information and hopefully somebody here will help me sort it out. In one place UTA indicates that we need an "active, unencumbered RN license from the United States" and in another it states that it needs to be from the state where we reside. At what point does the licensure issue get determined? California BRN is doing an awesome job taking forever to process the applications that they aren't losing/misplacing/destroying/burning. I honestly do not know how much longer this is going to take to get my endorsement in Missouri, but I'm guessing it will be done the end of summer 2017. I have just applied to UTA for Spring 2018. Do you think this will interfere with my application process?

Also, in yet another place on their website it was mentioned that we need to be working as an RN to meet the eligibility criteria for the RN-BSN program. I'm already having licensing issues, so of course, employment is barely on the radar at this point. Is this still a requirement?

Thanks,

Marlena

You have a RN license, correct? I believe that satisfies the requirement.

As far as working goes, you are required to have access to patients or nursing managers for certain classes such as Health Assessment and Nursing Management so I don't know how that would play out.

No, I do not have my RN license yet. California BRN has been sitting on my application for licensure by examination for eight weeks and told me that it will be another six weeks before it's processed. This means I could be 8-10 weeks out from taking my NCLEX. I just faxed them two days ago and asked for my application to be destroyed, I stopped payment on my check, and I am applying for my license in Missouri instead. So, I've started that process and hopefully Missouri BRN is a little more efficient than California.

If I'm working as a CNA, will that count as access to patients? Maybe, hopefully, by Spring 2018 I will be fully licensed and working as an RN.

For the first nursing class they require you to submit your RN license, so no - I believe that will not count. I think I read somewhere that you could be admitted to the RN-BSN program for pre-reqs but that you would not be allowed to take ANY nursing courses until you have your nursing license.
