UTMB BACC2 Spring 2011

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Just wanted to start a thread to see how many others have applied to the BACC2 program and hopefully we can keep track when interviews start, letters get sent, etc.

So, have you sent in your application, and when do you think you will first hear something? I know last year, interviews didn't start until October, but I have a feeling that they were still trying to play catch-up from Ike. Considering that some of the Fall 2010 applicants were contacted on March 1st for interviews when the application period ended Feb. 15th, I'm hoping that maybe August could be a possiblity for us to hear from UTMB. Any one else have thoughts about this?

Here's to all the BACC2 2011 applicants! Good luck! :D

I made several attempts to ask her if I could be put in the interview pool, but she kept cutting me off and then told me "I can't answer anymore questions." It was very frustrating. I'm kind of scared to call them again.

Thanks for your advice! I'll try the Dean. I think I spoke to the Associate Dean, but not sure.

I think we may be talking about the same person after all. I just checked her title and it is Assoc. Dean. The "Dr." is who I'm talking about. I'm sorry you've had such a rough time with them. I know it's hard to put all of your eggs into one basket and not have a fall back school. I hope everything turns out for the best for you!

I talked to **** today and she basically told me the same thing. I will be declining UTMB's offer. That leaves one more spot open. Good luck everyone!

Hey everyone,

I just recieved an email to set my interview date. I'm really excited. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Good Luck to everyone!!

Hi

What should I wear to the interview?

Hey Everyone! I am actually a BACC2 student scheduled to graduate in December. I was a member of a thread like this and remember wishing there was someone on here that had gone through the program. Let me know if you have any questions and hopefully I can help!

Hi what did u wear to the interview

My interview was actually over the phone. I will say that they are big believers in dressing the part. I know people who wore business casual and some who wore suits. Nothing says serious about what you are applying for like a suit, but if you don't have one business casual should be ok.

CaseyTate412 - I'm interviewing this friday. How long after your interview did you wait to hear regarding admission? What is your schedule like? How often are you at school, etc? Do you live in the Galveston area or are you commuting to campus? Is the program a hybrid of lecture & online?

I have tons of questions so, I apologize in advance. What is your schedule like? How intense is the program? Is there are a good support team at the school? What was your first degree in?

I actually only waited a day to find out because I had to know if I made it for another offer I had. UTMB was very behind last year and we didn't have interviews till November so it might be different. The schedule is usually one day on campus (we are tuesdays). This day is usually when we take our test and have seminar. Occasionally we will have a lab or something on a different day but it isn't often. The classes are all web based and if you are not good with the computer it might be hard. You will be teaching yourself the materials in many cases by watching presentations online and readings. I moved to Galveston and I honestly wish I didn't. I am doing all my clinicals at UTMB, but if I was closer to town I could have done some at the medical center. You have 20 hours of credits a semester. It is spread around so that you do not have all the classes going on at the same time. For example, you might be in 3 classes at the beginning of the semester and one starts in the middle, then the first three end and another one will start. The program is intense! If you are not dedicated you will not do well in this program...but it is a good intense. I was a community health major but there is every kind of degree in my class. There is economics, interior design, history, everything! There is a good support team at the school. They want you to make it and offer tools to do well in the program.
