UTMB BACC2 Spring 2011

U.S.A. Texas

Just wanted to start a thread to see how many others have applied to the BACC2 program and hopefully we can keep track when interviews start, letters get sent, etc.

So, have you sent in your application, and when do you think you will first hear something? I know last year, interviews didn't start until October, but I have a feeling that they were still trying to play catch-up from Ike. Considering that some of the Fall 2010 applicants were contacted on March 1st for interviews when the application period ended Feb. 15th, I'm hoping that maybe August could be a possiblity for us to hear from UTMB. Any one else have thoughts about this?

Here's to all the BACC2 2011 applicants! Good luck! :D

Hi, first of all I would like to thank you for all the information. Also if you dont mind could you please give us an idea on what to expect during the interview, I am really stressing myself over this. Anything will help thanks.

From what I can remember it was an easy interview... nothing crazy. They asked why you wanted to be a nurse, talked about the program structure and asked if you had anything that would hinder you from successfully completing it, what your plans were i.e. grad school in the future. You should not sweat it. Just dress professionally and maybe read up a little bit on the program and the school and you should be all set.

Did anyone complete the background check yet? I know the link was broken for a while, but I barely noticed they fixed it. Should we wait until we're actually admitted into the program?

If you're scheduled for an interview, they want the background done before you go.

I'm scheduled for an interview this Friday. Do you think it will be a really big deal if they don't have it that day?

Hi, I am looking on the print out of the email and do not see any reference to having the background check done before the interview. The website says that for admission requirements, you will need to do the items on that list including immunizations and background checks by date of admissions. Please let me know if I am wrong.

Thanks

Sorry, I should have given a little more info with my last post. According to what they said at the open house, they would like it if you had the background done by/around the interview date. The asst. dean talked about not wanting to have to reject someone after they've been accepted because they failed the background check. I hope that clears it up!

Thank you for the feedback, I was really hesitant to do a background check for fear of not being accepted to the program and then being out $60. Trust me; I don't have money to waste.

Ok thanks! That definitely cleared it up. Hope to see some of ya'll tomorrow! :)

Will anyone continue to work while in the program or is everyone living off of loans?

Hey Lindsey!

I was at the open house a couple weeks ago and the asst. dean said you aren't allowed to work when you're in the BACC2 programs. Some current students talked to us that were in the 4 semester BSN program and some of them worked 10-15 hrs/wk. They said they really liked the pace of the 4 semester program plus they could work on the side. Are you still trying to figure out which program you should join?

Yes. I may have my school fully payed for if I can work.
