She was eating a cinnamon roll and drinking coffee while she was checking me off. She wasn't paying attention at all. It irritates me to no end but what am I going to do? I don't know who to go to with complaints.

Today we had meds check off and she took off 2 points because she didn't hear me ask my pt. if they were having any difficulty swallowing even though I asked my pt. TWICE and my pt. even told her I asked her and the teacher said, "I didn't hear it...that's the end of this conversation." :angryfire

Every single time I have had a check off, she has taken off for something that she didn't see or hear but I HAD DONE IT. I was soooo mad today that I actually cried...which I hardly ever do....ever.
Why is she eating and drinking in a patient's room?

I'd look in her direction and indicate I was ready to perform the skill and wait till she was looking.

I can't see how she is doing her job if she is eating instead of teaching you and guiding you.

Deep breathe! Eat well tonite, and whatever you usually eat in the morning for fuel. Spend a little time NOT studying and just relaxing this evening - even if it's just 20 minutes to go out and walk or play with your pet or family, and then do something nice for yourself - maybe a little special desert or a nice soak in the tub after you are done studying.

These are all important parts of preparing for tests too!!!

    Good luck!

Allison, how was your second test?

I didn't want to post until everyone had taken their test. I know Brianna hasn't yet ..... It really wasn't that difficult of a test, I just couldn't concentrate worth anything. My anxiety was through the roof for some weird reason... I was so tired and the test seemed to last forever. I walked out with a 74 which is failing. I was actually surprised that I scored that high considering I could barely breathe with all of my anxiety! I am definitely going to have to make it up big time and I know I will. I went from a 92 to a 74...they probably thought I wasn't even the same person who aced the first test

I hope everyone did/does well!!!!!!! There were a lot of people in my school who did VERY good! I think the highest grade was a 98.

We went to orientation at the VA which was a lot of fun. Our instructor's mom has cancer and is having surgery so we don't get to start in the hospital until after spring break! That seems so far away!! Katie, have you had your orientation?

I think the second test was harder than the first one. I don't know my grade, yet. I am hoping for a passing grade.
The orientation was fun today. I was proud of myself that I didn't get lost this time.
There are so many new things that we have to remember... we start pt care next week.

So it was a good day and scary one, too. :uhoh21:

Well, I took the second exam this morning.... and after praying 3 times this morning, I got a 94!!! :hatparty: I couldn't believe it!! I felt that this exam was a little bit easier b/c alot of the questions were just applying the information to the senarios. I actually took my time, and I know that it definitely helped my grade.

Allison: Don't worry because there are 3 more tests to go!!

Katie: I'm sure that you passed...

Hopefully I will see y'all at the wound care seminar on monday!!

That's awesome Brianna!!! :spin: You got that grade because you earned it!

Yes, I will see all of you at the wound care seminar. I don't think there will be cake and punch but I could be wrong...I just know I wasn't asked to serve any

I've found out today that I've made 90 on test 2. I am soooo happy.

    Brianna, Congrats!

Allison, I am sure you will make good grades on the remaining tests. Before tests, do you use relaxation techniques to help reduce your anxiety?

YAY! Katie, I am so proud of you!!

It's hard to explain what happens to me before I take tests. The first test I was calm, cool, and collect. This last test I was FREAKING OUT for some weird reason. I think it's because I had gotten an A on the first test and then I was thinking, " It's impossible to make As in nursing school....I must fail something..." and that is exactly what happened. I now know that mindset is everything. I need to learn relaxation techniques if anyone has any!
