MSN to Post Masters NP

Hi,

Has anyone completed an online MSN degree and then have been admitted to a post master NP program. I am currently completing a general MSN degree at Capella University with focus in Leadership/Administration and Education, and was interested in pursuing a post master's certificate. The program is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, and The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and some courses include advanced pathophysiology, health assessment, and pharmacology which are many prerequisites to post-certificate programs.

I was accepted to the post-MSN NP program at University of Southern Indiana | USI | Bachelor and Master Degrees with my MSN from . I declined enrollment for other reasons, but I was accepted. Online school is so common these days, I would be worried more that your degree is from a for-profit school than online.

I completed MSN in Health Care System Management online through Loyola University New Orleans. Will be starting post masters in Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at UMMC Jackson, MS in the fall. Good luck to you!

I too have an MSN in management and leadership and two post-MSN certificates. No problems whatsoever.

I have a MSN in Nursing Education, and I am currently half way through my post-masters FNP program. I received credit for the courses that applied towards the FNP degree.

I have a Masters in Nursing Education from Oklahoma University (an online program) and just graduated with a post masters certificate from Graceland University as an FNP. I do not have experience with for-profit schools and acceptance into other programs but I got in the first time I applied at Graceland. Both programs were online and I had a wonderful experience with both. Best of luck!

Same here, MSN and working on my post master's FNP currently. Just know this, pretty much every single school that has post master's in nursing programs will NOT give you ANY financial aid. Read the fine print. Almost all of them say that "post master's certificate students are not eligible for (insert your school name here) or federal monies." What this means is you CANNOT get any federal student loans or any school scholarships/grants/fellowships/work study. Also, most private student loans require you to be a "degree seeking student" which you are not. Really your only options for money are personal loans, your own money, and/or employer education assistance. It sucks!!!! Consider yourself warned!
