After spending a couple full days last month applying to Georgetown's online program, I got accepted. The program is to start in March, and it's all online (except the 650 hours of clinical). I was so excited to get accepted, but am now realistically looking at the cost of tuition. $1500/hr x 45 hours = around $71,000. That's quite a bit of money, and I'm not rich by any means. I was hoping to find a program that is 30-50k. Can anyone make any recommendations? I live in the D.C. area, and honestly wouldn't mind doing the program all online.
Any input is greatly appreciated.

My FNP program is cheap. However i wouldn't recommend it because cheap doesn't necessarily get you the education you need or want. I guess you get what you pay for. My program is roughly $300 bucks per credit. It is an online program and I can PM you the name if you want.
I strongly suggest you look into the quality of the program rather than how inexpensive it is. I wanted to go the cheap and convenient route as well thinking that it really wouldn't make a difference in the long run. Well that may be true...but the problem is will I ever GET to the long run in my program? With the lack of resources, direction, and guidance, perhaps I will, or maybe I won't.
Some people will give you the whole "you get out of the program what you put into it" or "it's up to you to get what you can get out of your program." well that may be true to a certain extent as well. However this will only take you so far. Most people need some sort of guidance in order to make it through these programs and trust me it is no fun to feel as though no one else (instructors, adviosors, etc.) cares if you suceed or not.
All I can say is that I personally am definately regretting my decision of cheap over quality of program.

Student_FNP could you PM with the name of the program you're taking? Thank you!

Check out Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. I just got back from my orientation, met all the faculty, and know that they do care about our success. They are approximately 30-34000 depending on FT vs. PT status.

Hi,
I got accepted to University of Southern Indiana's FNP program, it's about $300/h and is all online . If you enter the school's name in the search box, you can see what other students have thought of the program.
University of South Alabama is another low cost school. University of Northern Kentucky is another one.
Indiana State Univ is reasonably priced but no longer has MSN for NP- it only offers DNP now.
Good luck with you search and future studies.

Student_FNP, could you please tell me which school you are going to? I am also looking for inexpensive online NP programs. Either PM or post? Thank you.

Hey. Can you contact me and we talk about Georgetown. I did not get accepted and I was wondering what I did not do that someone else did do. Thanks. Cheyenne

How was the application process at Georgetown? I'm going to try to apply for Nov, but I'm worried I won't get in....

Univ. of Southern Indiana is pretty cheap. I graduated a few years ago and think I paid less than 15K for everything.

Cassowary, each online school is different. I looked for schools that did not charge more for online. Some will not charge out of state fees but will charge a Internet fee.

Too late to apply for this year but George Washington, also in DC is cheap (almost so cheap that I was concerned I was looking at it wrong. I applied to the School of Public Health a few ago and the prices between the two are drastically different!) And they're accreditated.
