Chamberlain College of Nursing-FNP...accepted!!!

Hi

Will be taking advance research in Jan. How was that class? How many paper? How are unable to take two classes? I have lots of questions for u i wish I could talk to u? Lol. Are u working full time? I just completed nurse informatics that was very easy. I enjoyed it! I am scared about pharm/ Patho. So u should graduate next year? I wish I can double up and graduate next year as well.

Hi Dallas,

Advanced research is not bad at all. There is one group project and if your anything like me I HATE group projects, too difficult to get everyone's input at a good time. Anyway, two classes not terrible, this semester I took policy with advanced research and there is a LOT of reading in policy and the papers are more in depth than the research papers. A lot of papers and reading. It is doable. I work 24 hours a week, two twelves on the weekends only so I can take care of my kids during the week and do homework. Its doable but this semester has been challenging and had me worrying about being able to work in the future with clinicals. Informatics was very easy, probably the easiest class aside from NR 500. It is definitely a challenge taking two classes at a time but since I am only working two days a week its not terrible. I am concerned about pharm and patho as well, have heard it is a LOT of info in short time. I will not graduate for another 18 months. I still have epidemiology/advanced role in Jan and then pharm and patho then clinical/advance assessment. So June 2016 approx. if all goes well. How are things going for you?

I don't think I can handle it and keep my grades up. I work m-f. 8-5, then dealing with 3 kids, and a husband. I would love to so I could graduate early. Thanks for ur respond before. I was told they only have 2 graduation each year. In August and in feburday. Did u know that?

I will most likely not double patho and Pharm, too much material in short time, and no I did not know they only graduate in Feb and Aug! I will be finished if all goes right at the end of June so I guess August for me! There is no way working 8-5 m-f I could double any classes, its just too much, I mean the first time doubling wasn't that bad, this semester was more work and next semester I'm hearing is even more... epidemiology has a 10 page paper and lots of other junk too. Sounds like a lot of work to me. Ugh, well keep your head up and hang in there. Research I actually liked that class. It wasn't that bad as far as the papers and threads. Keep me posted on how its going!

I would think you would want to talk to chamberlain about that, I honestly don't know, I would check with their admissions office to see.

wow. im applying to them towards the end of this year. would it be a good idea to only work 12-16 hours a week so i can double down? i dont have any kids or other obligations so i can afford to do this. also can you complete the program in 24 months or does it take 2.5-3 years? i know some schools you can finish in 20-24 months if your only focusing on school.

Hi wayemika!

I am currently an FNP student in the program. I am 6 months pregnant, work full time nights (3-12 hour shifts in a major oncology hospital in houston) and this is my 3rd session to double classes. It is very doable working full time before getting into the clinical portion, but time management is KEY. Towards the end of this year I will be in clinical rotations and will then drop to part time work while getting in my clinical hours. Please feel free to PM with any questions!

Hey everybody!

i just got accepted to CCN and I was wondering how you all like the faculty, course work, and advisors??? More papers than tests? Does anyone know any graduates from their FNP program? Any comments aboutCCN FNP program would be super helpful!

I am in the Chamberlain MSN-FNP program. I have taken 7 courses and have to say so far, so good. I feel I have learned a lot but the courses are 8 weeks and they are intense. Some terms its like you blink and its over. So far the instructors have been mostly helpful, the majority have been interactive in the discussion threads, a couple were distant and didn't say much and took forever to grade posts and papers. CCN FNP program will graduate it's first cohort in April. I have been in contact with those that are close to graduation and the input has been mostly positive. I will say that Chamberlain is incorporating a review as part of the last clinical course the Capstone. That is a pretty big deal and is something I think all FNP programs should offer.
