Chamberlain FNP Program February 2016 acceptance
Hey guys! Congrats on taking the first step to an advanced degree! I started the program 7/7/2014. I am starting NR 602 in January and will have my official last day of school in June. I worked (and still continue to work) full time through out the duration of the program. I started the program on 7/7, and found out I was pregnant on 7/14. Still, I worked full time night shift (3 12s, 7p - 7a) and doubled classes. It takes A LOT OF DEDICATION AND TIME MANAGEMENT. You also NEED a good support system. If it were my choice, I would definitely work part time, but this is not an option as I am the sole breadwinner and carry the insurance. It is doable, but tough. Papers to write EVERY WEEK on top of discussion threads (if you double).

MSN FNP 2016
I am sorry you had such a bad experience with Chamberlain. There has definitely been talks about the subpar practicum coordinators. Fortunately I have not had this issue, but I have had several classmates that have

Chamberlain College Of Nursing- FNP program
I had experience before I went back, I was also pregnant...started program on 7/7/14 and found out I was pregnant on 7/14/14. I have since worked full time night shifts (3 12s) while pregnant and now with a 5 month old baby and fiancé at home. I will continue to work full time until I finish in June. Experience before the program is valuable in my opinion. It definitely has helped with critical thinking, and medication choices to name a few things. BUT to each his/her own, some people make wonderful APNs without RN experience.

Chamberlain College of Nursing-FNP...accepted!!!
So working full time nights is perfectly doable as I did this throughout my entire pregnancy. I am in clinical now and I still work full time nights. 500 has to be taken alone, then I would do policy and theory, research and informatics, and then leadership and stats.

Chsmberlain NP program versus other programs
Chamberlain just graduated the first FNP class this past August and so far everyone I know of has passed boards. The classes are pretty straight forward with discussion posts being the bread and butter of the grade. I will begin my first clinical class Monday, and start my first clinical rotation Tuesday. I now have 10 months left in the program. I finish in June. I too work inpatient, full time night shifts with a 4 month old and will continue to do so for the duration of the program.

My tuition is about 2000 per session now (it's higher once you get into the FNP specific courses), there are 6 start dates a year with 2 in the spring

Chsmberlain NP program versus other programs
The first course must be taken alone, then you can double for the next 3 sessions cutting 6 months off of the program...this is what I did. I did this while also working full time nights. I am currently still working full time nights and will continue to do so throughout the rest of the program. I start clinical on Tuesday.

Chamberlain FNP 2015 (looking for previous & new students)
So my son is 4 months old! I began the program in July 2014. Yes I also worked full time nights during this time...in fact...I'm still working full time nights and will continue to do so throughout the rest of the program. I start clinical on Tuesday next week! Some instructors are definitely better than others, but overall I am pleased with the program

Im currently in the FNP program at Chamberlain, set to graduate in June. I work for a nationally ranked hospital that readily employs Chamberlain graduates. I already have 2 job offers post graduation as well.

Chamberlain College Of Nursing- FNP program
Hey there! I just successfully completed Immersion Weekend this past weekend (8/21-8/23). The first day is Friday, and no class work...this is considered a travel day where all students come to the site and check in hotels...etc. Day 2 is Saturday, which you are put into groups and then you go to stations to practice complaint specific checkoffs. Day 3 is check off day...you get paired up with a partner and you won't know your scenario until you get to the testing site at your allotted time slot.

Thanks everyone for the insight! I was leaning towards inpatient myself, because I dread a 5 day M-F job....but I also dread still working weekends (even though it's only 1 per month). The reason I was asking to include my credentials in my negotiations is because the second offer is for an oncology outpatient clinic, and I may have to do certain procedures (like initiate research protocol chemotherapy). I have actually set up clinical placements at these 2 clinics as well, the first clinical to start 8/31, and the second to start 10/26. Both require me to work under a physician but they both seem willing and excited to teach!

Chamberlain FNP 2015 (looking for previous & new students)
Hey there! When I began the program I just found out I was preggo! I continued through my pregnancy, doubling up 3 times, and taking 507 and 508 alone (patho and pharm). Although I did not double these classes together, this is what I'd suggest, 500 has to be taken alone, then I'd take theory and informatics, research and leadership, and statistics and policy. This would be the easiest way to go about the doubling (even though the classes are very time consuming). I am starting my clinicals on 8/31 (beginning of the end!!!). Feel free to PM for more info!

Need negotiating advice!
Hello all! I know this is very redundant and yes I have scoured the site for negotiation tips as well. My dilemma is this, I will be graduating in June from an FNP program. I have 2 offers waiting already. The first offer: 95k, medical/dental/vision/life for self and family, 2500 CME, no weekends, no holidays, no call...clinic job seeing 15-20 patients per day. Second offer: 110k, 1 weekend a month rounding inpatient with physicians, same benefits, only 10-15 patients per day. I am liking the second offer, however I would like to negotiate more as this job is within my RN specialty of oncology (5 years experience at a large MAGNET specialty hospital by graduation). I am also have an OCN certification, ACLS, PALS, and chemotherapy/biotherapy certification. Can I use this in my negotiations? How much should I negotiate for with my certifications?
