Amy FNP-Well congrats to you!!!! This is a very exciting time in your life. Thank you very much for your input, I greatly appreciate you taking time to reply. Im going to start working full time soon so I guess I'll get letters of recommendations there. I know all the schools, for profit, welcome just about anybody, but it's who succeeds and passes the exam. Have employees asked where NPs went to school and want to see the degree??? Isn't previous experience as a RN important as well??? Thanks!

Hello Nurses!!!! HELPPPPPPPP!!! I am in desperate need of guidance. I have been out of full time work for 4 yrs. I have a drive to continue school to become an FNP but I feel like I cannot get the 3 letters of recommendations for the brick and mortar schools so I'm left with the online schools, Chamberlain, University of Phoenix, Keiser, Kaplan, South University, and so on. A couple of questions...are they all fairly equal as long as they are accredited? Which one did you go to and why? Any problems getting a job after graduating? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've been to my Pediatrician's and OB-GYN and I asked them both about clinicals for FNP school and they both volunteered to precept me at their office. I honest don't think it will be an issue.

Your enrollment counselor signs you up for your class so you don't have to do a thing.

Honestly, I think the school doesn't require much bc they want as much money/students as possible to go through the program. With that being said, that doesn't mean it's a "bad" school or program. The first graduates are going to be graduating in April so when can then see the academic standing, graduation rate. Also, CCN is totally accredited but doesn't have a name like Duke or Georgetown to demand a big draw so that's a way to intise more students, no giant hoops to go threw. Moreover, I have been speaking with a lot of doctorate and master prepared NP that say their employer doesn't even ask where they have been to school so school recognition isn't a big deal. The "big deal" in the future for NPs is that they have their doctorate. Getting into any FNP program now is imperative if you don't want to complete your doctorate bc at some point I heard they may mandate a doctorate for NPs, but if you already have your NP then you are good!

Sure! The classes are 8 weeks and I am pretty familiar with that format bc I did my RN-BSN at JU and they were 8 week classes-which I loved! from what I have heard it's all paper writing for the first couple classes bc the first class the only textbook required is an APA format manual.

Trauma, thank you you so much for your input! Congrats on your success thus far. Is there a particular reason why you were drawn to CCN FNP program? To be honest, I couldn't come up with 3 recommendations and CCN makes it easy to get accepted by not jumping threw hoops. So have you taken a single class at a time or did you double up? And if you did, would u reccomend taking 2 classes at a time and which ones? I work one to two 12hr shifts a week so I'm thinking I could handle 2 at a time. I went to Jacksonville University for my RN-BSN and I took 2 classes at a time and they were 8week classes. How many ppl are in your cohort/class? I will be curious to see how many graduates there will be in April as most schools have a graduation rate/percentage attached to their program. I agree as the big review at the end of the program is a fantastic idea! Again, congratulations!!!! You should be super proud of yourself!

Hey everybody! i just got accepted to CCN and I was wondering how you all like the faculty, course work, and advisors??? More papers than tests? Does anyone know any graduates from their FNP program? Any comments aboutCCN FNP program would be super helpful!
