Where are all you SC nurses?

U.S.A. South Carolina

You never here much from nurses in SC. Are there not that many on this board or have I just missed you all?

It would be nice to hear about experiences here in SC.

Perhaps we should introduce ourselves.

I am a student in Charleston, just moved here with my family to attend nursing school. We plan on staying here after I graduate instead of moving back to Myrtle Beach.

S.C nurse here. I have lived in the Charleston area for 10 years after moving down from Ohio. I have found that this area has the greatest range of nurses. I have met nurses from all over the globe with a vast amount of skills. To all you new comers to the area "Welcome" and to all the nursing students, "Thank-You". We need and welcome you to our field and our state.

Hi, Everybody!

Are there any nursing students out there on Midlands Tech or USC's extremely long waiting lists besides myself??? If so, how do you feel about these waiting lists??

Specializes in NICU.

Well, I WAS on the waiting list for USC-L (at YTC campus) but am now a senior and will graduate May 6, 2007:monkeydance::yeah: :yelclap: :smiley_aa The wait seemed long when I got on the list but that seems forever ago now! I got on the list in January 2004 at number 84. I started the program August 2005. I took all my general classes, sciences, and electives while I was waiting, which was the best way to do it. I would hate to have to worry about other classes now, esp. with a family of three kids (and a husband!). It does stink to wait and it can be discouraging, but hang in there! :flowersfo It's worth it!

Huh? What? I'm not the only one at Midlands Tech? :w00t:

I'm on the waiting list...my start date is Spring 2010...eeeekkk!

Actually, I won't be waiting that long. OC Tech has NO waiting list and the average GPA of accepted students is a 3.0. Got that. And I won't mind driving the extra 30 minutes if it means I start clinicals next Fall.

Also, do you know about MTC's Merit Admissions? There's an information session on campus on the 18th??? There's a little sign on the doors of the Health Science Building with the date and time.

Either way, this future RN won't wait another 4 frickin' years to get in. By then, my A&P will have expired.

You're welcome to PM me...there are others in the MTC nursing program that know about this site...whoda thunk it?

Hi! I live in Charleston, grew up here and applied for the accelerated BSN program at MUSC, anxiously awaiting my acceptance letter. I want to move to some place up north or Myrtle Beach when I graduate.

Hi everyone! Have only been here in SC for just 55 days. Still looking for work waiting for my license to arrive. Have received my temp permit. Living in the aiken area for now. Any tips on best places to work in surrounding area would be greatly appreciated. Would like to branch out and take a break from the hospital setting. Would love to get to know you on the forum.

Hi there!

I am South Carolina born and raised and proud of it.:w00t: :nurse: I graduated from the LPN program at Horry-Georgetown Tech in August of this year. I have also been a CPhT for years and now work for a long term care pharmacy in Myrtle Beach. I look forward to chatting with you all from time to time (when I can find some time).

i am interested in the Lander program second degree BSN. I now have a BSCE and no health care experience. will somebody hire me?

RXNurse...CONGRATS on your graduation. I also graduated from Tech in August but from the ADN program. Doesn't it feel great to finally be done with school? Good luck to you!!
