Scrubs where you actually look like a nurse or street clothes where you fit in better with the school staff? I just can't decide! I've worn both. Obviously scrubs are more comfortable but I feel like I'm in my pajamas sometimes. Also, there are times I want the kids to easily recognize me as the school nurse but ,on the other hand ,I don't want to put thoughts in their heads of coming in to see me when they don't need to. I swear sometimes just seeing me makes some come up with an excuse just to get out of class and if I'm in scrubs I stand out even more. Then there are the teachers. I feel some may think when I'm wearing scrubs that there is the nurse and she looks like a nurse should so I'm going to trust her judgement (haha! ;))or do they think this is a school and by wearing street clothes I'm one of them so they are more accepting. What are your thoughts on this? Maybe I'm just way over-thinking this but I'm just never a 100% comfortable in either it seems so I wanted to get other opinions. Thank you! :)

Street clothes, with a lab coat

I think this is a good compromise except in schools where there is no air conditioner like mine!!

I used to have a little white lab jacket with short sleeves. With a lightweight top it might work.

I wear a mix of scrubs/teacher wear: scrubs bottoms, usually black or gray with a plain short sleeved top and a cardigan (I am always cold).

I do both - some days scrubs, some days "teacher clothes", but 99% of the time I do wear a lab coat.

I only wear my short white jacket when doing lice screening. The staff run when they see me enter the building with it!

I might wear a scrub top occasionally but no scrub pj pants.

Usually I dress casual in jeans and a blouse; occasionally a lab jacket.

I wear Teacher clothes. I have other roles in the building not related to School Nursing so this works the best for me

I wear scrubs. I try not to give the pajama vibe, though. I like tops that have some shape to them, instead of the boxy, unisex ones. I like the bootleg scrub pants, instead of the shapeless, straight leg ones. I wear my Danskos, which I think look nicer than the Birkis I used to wear as a floor nurse. ha!

I do think that street clothes with a white lab coat is a nice look, too. But, I don't want to have to think about clothes too much, so scrubs are much easier! And cheaper to replace if a child vomits on me... :barf02:

I hate the boxy, unisex scrubs. The scrub bottoms I wear are bootleg cut and look like dress pants, especially since I wear grey or black. But like someone said above, they are easier to clear or replace if I get vomit, blood, or snot on 'em.

What is the brand name of the boot cut scrubs...they sound so much cuter than the boxy type?
