Just wanna bang my head against a wall. :banghead:

Kid gets hurt last week (out of school). Returns to school, and there is no contact from parent. Kid goes to PE class and gets hit square in the nose.

The same nose that was FRACTURED last week.

Did anyone tell me? Nooooo!

Did kid tell anyone? Yesssss!

Who might they have told?

The PE Teacher, that is who. So the teacher, in absence of a note/restrictions allowed student to play and guess who nose got whacked and needed to see ENT yesterday?

Yup, you heard right!!!!!

Why, when they send everyone to me for anything else in the world, would they let a student with a reported fractured nose, participate in a HS PE class without making sure it was ok????

I am so ready for vacation.

Oh my! And of course, you get to be the one to tell the parent. Would think that an athletic trainer would know better. I defer to ours for soft tissue injuries, she is much better trained than I in those areas. Unfortunately she is only here on Wednesday mornings.

That situation sucks. Your admin should make the PE teacher answer for that one, but i'll bet you a saltine they don't and it lands squarely on you.

Not even a trainer, the PE teacher, who should know better. Aye yay yay! I documented the lack of knowledge of the incident (as far as I was concerned) very thoroughly!!!!!!!! And I turfed it up to the AD and he will deal with the teacher.

i'll bet you a saltine

New SN t-shirt!!

Flare is so cool. Just sayin'.

Wow....That is crazy!

Hope the parents don't call 1-800-Lawyers.:geek:

I have a great registrar that copies letters from doctors and gives them to the teachers who need them.

i always keep copies of PE notes - you don't know how many times i've been called out on it later on. Doctor's notes (meaning excuse for illness on this date) i don't care about so much unless it is a change in health status. But PE excusals get filed

Which would have been awesome, if said note actually existed....

I found out yesterday about a concussion that happened several weeks ago. The parent finally called the counselor. We went to the attendance clerk who pulled up an excuse from school. Way at the bottom it stated concussion. Mom had written a note to give a copy to the PE teacher and that is it. So, I do not blame our clerk at all. She did as asked.

Seems like if parents really want the needed people to know then they should contact us directly. Seriously, how do they know if the kid ever even turns in the note to ANYONE??
