OMG.....How Did This Happen !!

So today I had a student who has had head lice countless times this year so far and all of last year, come in and she has live lice and multiple nits all throughout her hair.

As in the past, I called the father. He is at work. I asked for him and he gets on the phone with me.

I suppose that he was standing in front of his supervisor while he was talking to me and the conversation goes like this:

Me: Mr. So and So, this is the school nurse. Susie has live lice again and you will need to come pick her up.

Dad: OMG !! OMG !! Oh My....how did this happen ? How could such a thing happen ?

Me: Almost chuckling....well it's just like it was two weeks ago, she will need to be treated before she can return back to school.

Dad: Oh, so it's an emergency and I need to come right now ?

Me: Uh....yes.....Hmmmm.....

He did come promptly, but I doubt that the supervisor knows the real story....

Mostly I feel bad for the kid. This has been ongoing for two years at least.

Do you think the dad would be amenable to a check? May be a family wide issue. Do they have the means to do professional extermination in home?

Sounds like a parent of mine. Sent her kids home three times finally suggesting that she may need to have them seen by the doctor for possible treatment resistant lice since this is an ongoing problem that she swears she's doing everything to treat. She dropped them off after supposed doctor appointment stating no lice were found, none, zero, zip. Waste of her time! I did my return to school check and watched three lice merrily skipping along student's head, captured one with my trusty tweezers, bagged it and presented it to mother. She screamed, "I don't want it!" Yeah, me either lady but it's yours. Needless to say she wasn't very happy with me. Left louse as she stormed away. Said louse is now pinned to board in baggy as exhibit A.
