No pass? Too bad

We had an issue last year with a large number of middle school students sneaking to see the nurse (I mean, she IS so awesome and cool) that we had to make a rule that they couldn't see me without their personal agenda signed by their teacher. The elementary students already had the clinic pass rule.

I have to sign their agenda when they leave the clinic so the teacher knows they did actually come to the clinic. The agenda is a planner that the students write their homework assignments in and take home each night. This allows parents to occasionally take a peek and see how often their kid is asking to leave class and go the restroom, nurse, whatever. It's not a bad system.

i used that policy when i worked primarily with older kids. it's harder to enforce with the littles as the teacher often just sends them.

I am k-4 and in actuality almost all the teachers are good except the 4th grade teachers. That's the group I am having issues with. They are also the group I see most in my office.

We have the planner system too at my Middle School. The problem is that as the year progresses, planners get lost or begin to fall apart! I distribute Nurse's Passes to my teachers on bright red paper. I will accept a planner signature or a Nurse pass. Most teachers are good about sending a student with at least something. If a student tries to stop in between classes I have them go to class first so that they can be accounted for, unless of course it is an emergency. About 50% of the time the student never returns! Guess it was not that serious.

Absolutely! I enforce the pass rule at my school too. I gave my scheduled visitors a laminated pass with their time after I figured out they wouldn't abuse the system (and they don't). But everyone else needs a pass.

Even though I have K-5, I still require a pass. Often, the young ones will not tell me their name or teacher. Therefore I have a little kid in my clinic who is nameless ??? I have no idea who to send him back to. Sometimes kids have sat in the clinic for over an hour until the goofy teacher remembers that the kid is missing. Duh !!!

No pass.....no visit. Simple.

I have the easiest nurses pass to fill out too! It has a checklist of different ailments and all teacher has to do is write their name, student's name, and check off what is bothering them. No excuse!
