Took a Break

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I took a much needed break and I still need to finish my prerequisites but I just cannot focus on my classes. It's like I have this and this and that going on but I so want to be a nurse. I just feel so down at times because I have not become a nurse yet

Don't get yourself too down. I have been out of high school for four years. I have only taken one semester of college courses (which I have to retake to boost my GPA. I am going back after not taking any classes for two years. It can be done. I will just graduate when I am 28. My mom graduated from her BSN program when she was 27. So it can be done. Yes, it is very hard. I am learning that myself!

I see plenty of 30 year olds in nursing school. When the time is right, rock it out!

I took a break from college out of Highschool, then i started my nursing pre-reqs, i failed two of them (biochem and Anatomy) the first semester i came back, It might take a while to get used to the swing of things in college but once you get into a rythym youll notice your GPA rise and youll become unstoppable. so KEEP going at it, i Finished my nursing pre-reqs in about a year and a half and ill have most of my GE's done at the end of the year (two years total in College)

It can be done. I took a 5 year break. I was only 1 class away from applying to nursing school. I stopped being able to focus now 5 years later I'm going back to finish what I started...now I need 3 classes.

I would rather have taken the break when I needed then be in the position that I am in now. I graduated in 2006 from high school and went straight to community. For the next 6 six years (yup until this past Spring) I lolleygagged with school, changed my major a couple of times, and now I got the determination and motivation I need to continue on my way. The thing is I've taken a few semesters off here and there, failed quite a few classes, and taken a year to get my PCT certification. Now I am left trying to recover my GPA and get into nursing programs that are super competitive. I am going against students who did it right the first time.

It is very frustrating but you just have to focus on you and what you are doing. I know that it's so easy to lose track and focus on what you HAVEN'T accomplished but think about how far you have come. Focus on where you want to be and how much closer you are than when you first started.

Good luck and you will be fine.

I will be 33 on Wednesday and just started college for the first time over the summer. I have 5 kids ages 5-14 and a husband who works a swing shift (4 days on then 4 days off switching from Day shift 9am-9pm to night shift 9pm-9am) if I can do it, anyone can do it if they want it bad enough! This is something I've wanted since I was 12 that I had to put on the back burner because the timing just wasn't right when my kids were babies. It's never too late, you can do it!! I have some who are in their 40's in school with me now going for nursing. It surely can be done! Beat of luck to you! : )

I took a Break from 1987 to 2008

Lol

If it is meant to be, and this is your passion you will do it

Good luck

I did 12 hours of college credits four years after high school I am restarting this spring and I will be 29. I will be 32 when I apply for the bsn program and hopefully 34 when I compete it. It's never to late to start!
