Statistics online? good/bad idea?

I'm thinking about doing statistics online and I'm wondering what other people's experiences have been with taking it online? I'm just worried that I will get stuck and not have help available to me. I'm definitely more of a classroom kind of gal but my CC only offer's it one night (which isn't an option because I am taking LNA classes on that night) or online and I need to get it done this next semester as I start NS in the fall. Any input or advice is greatly appreciated!!

I took Elementary Statistics online at my CC. I thought it was okay really. It is definitely "doable". Statistics is really not something I enjoy at all so I might have enjoyed it better in the classroom setting. Good luck!

Thank you, I think I'm gonna go for it. I consider myself to be fairly good at math and I do know of a few resources I could go to for help if I was absolutely in the clouds about something. How did you do in the class btw?

I got a B. I hate to say it but I definitely could have pulled an A. If I get very uninterested in something I don't give 150% like usual. I like math a lot though. Statistics just kind of got old to me. I had initially taken it for a different degree before I decided to go for ADN. I don't even need it now for that, but will if I decide to get a BSN.

Yeah I need it for my BSN, I wanna get it out of the way because I'm hoping the school will start me as a sophomore if I get all the first year classes out of the way (if they accept them as transfers). I feel much better about doing it online now, thank you :)

I am taking a math class online (not statistics), but I do know that at my cc they have a math lab with free tutors in it to help with math problems. Just a thought, so in case you do run in to trouble check it at your cc......they may offer the same type of thing. You just take your book, paper, and questions and they help you figure out what you are having trouble with.

I took stats online. I heard tons of horror stories about stats, but I found it pretty easy. I actually enjoyed it and I'm not much of a math person. It was an easy A for me.

I'm taking it online in the Spring and I'm super nervous also. My class is only 8 weeks instead of 16, so it's going to be more fast paced. This post definitely makes me feel more confident about taking it online. It's so much easier to do things online when you've got kids at home!!

Stacebake,

Don't worry, you will do great! I did take mine in a longer 16 week session, but I was taking 5 other classes as well. The information is actually relevant to real life (as opposed to algebra, YUCK!) and it all comes down to understanding which formula to plug the numbers into. I also have kids at home, so I totally get it!

Good luck!!

I took stats in a regular classroom setting, but honestly, that class was cake. The actual math is basic. There's just new terminology to learn as well as simple formulas. You also learn how to properly interpret/draw different types of graphs and well...statistics.

Good luck! :)

I just finished Stats on-line and it was cake! I really hated algebra, but stats was not bad at all. For the course I took, all assignments were opened the first day of class allowing you to work as far ahead as your wanted and you were give the choice of "technology" you wanted to use (excel, graphing calculator, StatDisk, Minitab). In this course you could watch a short lecture if you wanted which I found helpful. I got an A and finished in 10 weeks rather then 16! Good luck!

Math is all about practice. If you have a texbook, you should be fine as long as you understand the concept
