Smart Pens?

Does anyone have one of these "Smart Pens"?

It seems really cool and helpful to be able to record what you write and hear and be able to go back to the exact lecture the note was taken?

If you do have one, do you like it? Is it worth the money?

I think I will get one once I get into my program... I don't know yet...

I don't actually have one, but that's a good idea. I start in January and I'll need all the help I can get. You might read some reviews on Amazon as I found out they sell them as well. :specs:

I had a math professor who used one of those pens for the final review. It was really neat. But I don't know if I'd buy one, mostly because when I've used a recorder previously, I didn't go back and listen to the lectures.

After thinking a while about it, I probably wouldn't either. Now if it didn't cost so much, say about $30, I would try it because then I wouldn't feel so bad if I didn't like it.

It is insane how technology is so advanced in today's time...

I was just amazed that a pen is a computer! I like to repeat and repeat my work so I remember it. I read and reread. I write notes, then flashcards...

I haven't decided if it is something for me. I would to see if anyone has gotten one and liked it!

That is a great point. I would ask someone in your preferred program if recorders are even allowed. A lot of programs apparently don't let you have them. Also, this would not be a useful tool in clinicals or a hospital setting, as it seems like it would likely get you in BIG trouble.

Sounds like a perfect present for my pen addict husband! His birthday is on Christmas Eve and some years it can become difficult for it not to be lost in the shuffle.

I recorded some, but not all, of my college classes. Be sure your professor hasn't banned recording first though. Some do.

Most don't care if students record but some can get downright silly about recording. A colleague of my husband is like that.

I personally don't have one, but one of my classmates uses it. She told me at first it was like a new toy, but she's trying to force herself to use it (It's because she's not an audio learner) my suggestion would be to first know your learning style. And to those saying about HIPPA and the Smart Pen, you uses a smart book that goes with it. I like to use a binder with regular paper.
