Older students..who else wishes they could move into a dorm..

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

With a husband, 3 kids and 3 dogs, I often daydream about moving out and into the dorm pr an apartment all my own. I doubt it would go over well though. LOL

That sounds wonderful! I also have a husband, 3 kids and 3 dogs. A nice, quiet apartment would be so nice. I will just have to settle for locking myself in my room (with everyone knocking at the door)!

I currently live at home & am finishing my last class at my community college. I start at a BSN program in the fall that is 1.5 hours away. I don't have kids, but I do have a house full of family... I can't wait to move into the dorms, especially because I am getting a single. There is just no place in my house that is actually quiet.

I guess I must be living the dream. It is just me and my 2 cats. Thankfully they sleep 16 hrs a day.

As loud as my house can get with 3 boys, my mom, hubby and two dogs, I couldn't imagine being away from them! I'm a night owl so I mostly do all my work once the youngest (6) goes to bed.

An apartment maybe, a dorm - yikes - NO! :-) The local library is a great place to go!

Btdt and the dorm is louder than my apartment full of people!

Posting from my phone, ease forgive my fat thumbs! :)

When I went to URI I lived in the dorm (All Girls Dorm, I think my Dad made that happen) it was so quiet. I am seriously thinking about an apartment... I can't even get a minutes peace in the bathroom, let alone a few hours at a desk.

Hmmm... maybe I will get one in the town over (best school system close to me) and have my kids go those schools then "home" to the study house. No tv, no ipods, no kindle, no radio..... sounding better and better.

*cheaper than private school*

Tough call. You'd probably get bored without your kids yelling and your dogs barking at you though.

Me. I'm 32 and would probably get weird looks from the girls.

Jealous :)

I am in my mid-40s, and to make the dream of nursing happen, I have moved in with my aunt (in her 70's). We are very close, and there are a lot of plusses to the situation - including the fact that she is super supportive, it's highly economical, it's minutes from my program, and it's a healthier environment for my dog when I'm gone (because there are other dogs with whom to play, another person to love him, etc.).

But after being an adult living as a wife, mom or empty-nester in my own home since the age of 20, it's VERY DIFFICULT to handle the fact that I'm really in someone else's domain. I like to have everything JUST SO (my way); I'm extremely affected by environment, am a designer, and I've always lived with balance, order, art, every object chosen with care, clear surfaces, a place for everything, and everything in its place, etc.

My aunt lives completely differently. Trash can out in the kitchen, stacks of stuff everywhere, things thrown together willy-nilly. (It's odd to me that she and my mother grew up together, because my mom and my grandmother were so much more like me.)

There's nothing wrong with the way she lives; it's just nerve-wracking to me - and a chance to grow, of course.

Still, I'm going to appreciate having my own home again (in a year) SO MUCH, as a result of this experience.
