Older students..who else wishes they could move into a dorm..

Published

With a husband, 3 kids and 3 dogs, I often daydream about moving out and into the dorm pr an apartment all my own. I doubt it would go over well though. LOL

Oh man, to live in the dorms again? Sounds tempting but I think I will pass.

Sure it would be nice to be in a completely academic environment where I have my own desk and space. But if I remember correctly, the dorms are anything but that! And I doubt much has changed, unless you get lucky and are put in a the "nerd" dorm.

I'm turning 30 soon, but my younger cousins just started college and it only reminds me of the chaos and madness that is the dorms.

Vomit in the shower stalls, roommate busted for weed, late night parties in your room, strangers doing who-knows-what on your bed, friends banging on your door at all hours of the night--no thank you!

Apartment? Maybe. But I really think I'd just end up lonely, and watching TV all day if I don't have someone watching me. Somehow, having my husband around to breathe down my neck about studying helps me get stuff done.

I liked dorm living alright, but I outgrew the dorms. I was still living in on-campus housing (apartment style) during my first year of nursing school as a junior working on my BSN, but I was living in a quad at the time with my best friend. I was never "home" between clinicals and classes and she ended up resenting me a good bit. I moved out into an apartment for my senior year and never looked back.

So I'm not the only older student?!! Im 31 and have just began taking my pre reqs!! I have 3 little ones...8,6 and 3. I feel like Im a horrible mother and wife at times because of the stress. They totally get the brunt of it.
